Belmont Roughie Tip

Belmont Roughie - Race 3 No. 2 War Gem

Now with three runs under his belt, this Neville Parnham-trained galloper should be at peak fitness and he arrives here off an improved last start performance.

War Gem did cover ground via an unlucky return outing, which appeared to leave him flat when second-up on July 6, but he's back on track going off his latest run.

He was the pick of the on-speed brigade via that July 20 event, where the first three home came from back in the field and the gelding stuck on, albeit he was one-paced.

The added fitness on a wet track holds him in good stead for Saturday's assignment, as does staying at Belmont, with four of his five career wins having come at this track.

Doomben Roughie Tip

Doomben Roughie - Race 6 No. 8 This'llbetheone

Nothing has gone his way since breaking the 1650m track record at Doomben on June 12, with This'llbetheone covering ground via his next two appearances.

The six-year-old was brave via his latest tilt and given this is technically a rise in grade to open company, he now has just 54.5kg despite a senior hoop being aboard.

The ratings across this line-up suggests that this is no harder than the BM85 that he contested last time out and he did salute with a similar impost on June 12.

Another positive is that he now has barrier one and with the ability to put himself on the speed this time around without doing the early work, this does set-up well.

Flemington Roughie Tip

Flemington Roughie - Race 5 No. 4 Watadeel

A galloper who has been plagued by wide gates in all four starts this campaign, Watadeel now draws barrier two and Jamie Mott takes the reins on Saturday.

After colder steers in his first three attempts, Watadeel was ridded more positively at Caulfield last start, but he covered ground throughout that 1700m contest on a Soft 7.

He wasn't disgraced under the circumstances, while the gelding won his last try over the Flemington mile and he beat Von Hauke in the process there.

Von Hauke was a Group 3 winner in March and defeated a handy Amenable via that triumph, with that runner-up placing at Group 1 WFA level only two starts later.

Murray Bridge Roughie Tip

Murray Bridge Roughie - Race 5 No. 4 Alainge

This local can improve second-up on firmer ground, with Alainge a notable drifter on return at Morphettville and she struggled on a Heavy 9 surface in that attempt.

While she was raw, the Stuart Padman-trained galloper showed ability in her first campaign, with back-to-back victories recorded at starts two and three before being tipped out.

She completed only a short autumn prep this year, where after covering ground when in the market via a similar affair to this, Alainge was set a big task on the Parks circuit.

The bar plates coming off suggests that all is well in regards to her feet, while blinkers go on for the first time and the bigger Murray Bridge track also suits.

Rosehill Roughie Tip

Rosehill Roughie - Race 10 No. 1 Kayobi

He hasn't quite measured up to some stronger targeted races in the past, however, Kayobi has still been competitive either side of a Heavy track flop on June 8.

Among those better performances was a Listed fourth over the Scone Carnival and his last try at BM78 resulted in a second, where he split Super Helpful and Gringotts.

That's decent enough reading for this affair, as is his recent midfield performance on return in the Listed Ramornie Stakes (fastest last 200m of the entire race).

This sets-up better over 1400m, while barrier four over the longer trip can see him settle closer in the run under apprentice Zac Wadick, who takes 3kg off with his claim.
