Belmont Roughie Tip
Belmont Roughie - Race 6 No. 5 Classic Rogue
He finished in the money for us last start when recording good closing splits to grab third over this track/trip and big odds are available once again here.
The form has already stood up from that June 22 event, where Classic Rogue beat home two subsequent winners, including Come Right Back (Listed winner eight days later).
That fourth-up performance was his first try over a mile for the campaign and that last outing followed a strong chasing effort on soft ground over seven furlongs.
While he loses the claim, getting the services of Paul Harvey won't hurt his chances and providing they can make ground, he has to be an each-way chance.
Caulfield Roughie Tip
Caufield Roughie - Race 4 No. 12 Just Landed
The fav is Rezone, who brings the right form from Flemington, although the market elect was 40/1 there and he was one of the few in that race who got the right run.
Just Landed is one of a few at longer odds who we could speck, with this three-year-old suited out to 2000m third-up off a third at Pakenham and he overcame plenty of trouble there.
He's looked a different horse since the ultimate gear change, having backed up a slick jump-out win to place first-up after racing keenly.
Soft ground is the query, although all of his full sister's placings (Lunar Module) have come on rain affected tracks and he carries 3kg less for this third-up assignment.
Doomben Roughie Tip
Doomben Roughie - Race 8 No. 12 This'llbetheone
This five-year-old has been a good pick-up for trainer Jack Bruce, with This'llbetheone recording three wins so far in just hist campaign for the new yard.
The last of those was two starts back at Doomben and along with breaking the 1650m track record, he also beat home Cinque Torri and Rising Pacific (two favs in this).
It's worth forgiving the latest on the Gold Coast Poly Track, where he wasn't able to cross early and roll along on the speed, and that's when he's most effective.
He still wasn't disgraced in that latest performance, where he covered ground behind a winner who had the race handed to him and a return to Doomben is in his favour.
Murray Bridge Roughie Tip
Murray Bridge Roughie - Race 7 No. 3 Headphones
It was somewhat of a bizarre first-up performance on June 29, as Headphones looked beaten a long way out before rallying late to finish fifth in that Morphettville attempt.
She has no fresh form to her name, which adds further merit to that latest effort and most her winning form has come over this track/trip (four of six career wins).
Those victories include a pair of wins last winter in similar company and on heavy ground late on the year, she bolted in at Morphettville in this grade with half a kilo more.
2kg claimer Alana Livesey can push forward early with Pricilla's Choice and Kushan Khanivale, who she's drawn between, while this mare does handle all surfaces.
Randwick Roughie Tip
Randwick Roughie - Race 6 No. 9 Hide Your Heart
She was in career best form last campaign and quickly worked through the grades in the process, with the mare opening her spring with a hat-trick.
After taking out a BM58 at Scone fresh, Hide Your Heart completed that early treble via a metro BM72 and she remained competitive in her next three outings (all in Saturday BM78's).
Following a return fourth (arguably should've won), the daughter of Sebring was back and chasing a long way out second-up, but the closing splits were still okay.
She can improve further on Saturday (third-up winner over this distance last prep), with race fitness always a positive on these testing Sydney tracks.
