Rosehill Trials - Monday, December 30

Rosehill Gardens ran their sixteen trials on a Good 4 surface and Alex Marsh has reviewed all of the heats.

Notable Heat

Heat One - Open Trial (1030m). Time: 1:03:82.

King Of Hastings (first) went for his public spin in the clockwise direction and took out the opening heat in readiness for the 2020 Magic Millions Three-Year-Old Guineas.

After trailing the first two early in Frenzied (fifth) and Dambulla (third), he was able to edge clear of them two to score from Redouble (second) who worked a little stronger to my eye.

Redouble will be looking to defend his Magic Millions Cup title which he took out early in 2019 and I suspect the blinkers will go back on for race day.

Duca Valentois (fourth) was another strong closer and given this was his second trial for the preparation, a return to the races isn't far whilst Fasano (seventh) has completed another soft albeit fair piece of work following his fourth placing on December 17.

Fastest Heats

Heat Three - Fillies & Mares Maiden Trial (1030m). Time: 1:02:79.

In the fastest of the 1030m heats of the morning, a six start maiden runner in Seraph (first) led and controlled proceedings throughout for a two and a half length victory.

Katalin (second) is an unraced Godolphin filly that stuck to the task well in chasing for a clear second from her stable mate in Amitto (third).

By Medaglia D'Oro and out of a group winning dam in Kanzan, Katalin is a half sister to a multiple group winner in Ranier and this trial followed an eye-catching piece of work at Randwick on December 13.

It was rather inconclusive back in the field with most there just for a look around, Lombardia (fifth) made late inroads and is a filly that has the scope to get over more ground in her summer campaign.

Heat Sixteen - Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Trial (900m). Time: 53:89.

The last trial of the morning was the only 900m heat to break fifty four seconds which was taken out by the John O'Shea-trained Belmont Day (first) who took up the running and responded late.

A China Horse Club purchase by I Am Invincible and out of a group winning dam in Camporella, this unraced colt has been given plenty of time with multiple trials over the year.

Home Soil (second) is a gelding from the Chris Waller stable that hasn't raced since June 2018 but has put together three strong trials now and he went to the line softly late.

They weren't there to be knocked around outside the first three home with Sea Of Life (fifth) who placed in two handy races earlier in the year, the pick of them but may be another trial away and Morethannumberone (sixth) working for a second time under a strong hold.
