Randwick Kensington Tips For May 20 2020

Midweek Sydney racing will be run on the Kensington circuit at Royal Randwick this Wednesday where mostly fine conditions are expected on the day.

The rail is in the 5m position and the track is currently in the Soft 6 range.

Randwick Kensington Value Bet - Race 3. No. 1 Ghostly

This honest gelding from the David Pfieffer yard is a huge price coming all the way back to a midweek Benchmark 70 after having excuses in the Wagga Town Plate

Following a cracking run from the back for a fifth placing in a Benchmark 88, the bottomless track worked against him as he attempted to defend his Town Plate crown, where he looked flat off that big run prior to it.

Ghostly will be heading back from the wide alley, however the speed does look fair up front and on a firmer surface now third-up, he can let down better.

After the 2kg claim of Chris Williams, Ghostly is actually rather will in at the weights and for a galloper that's been Saturday competitive over the last few years in stronger races, he's big odds in this line-up.

Randwick Kensington Best Bet - Race 4 No. 4 Money Magic

On a tough card to find a lot of standouts, this three-year-old is appealing as a nice option at the price following a strong return victory.

By So You Think and of the mare Money Begets Money who's produced a stakes-winner in Moqueen, Money Magic was very tough in her first campaign when picking herself up off the campus to score on debut.

She followed that with a second to Toomai, who had beaten the star filly Colette the start prior and then was runner-up to Nimalee, who prevailed in two of her next three starts in town.

Money Magic is open to improvement here and being a galloper that sustain a gallop on a strong tempo, she can give a good sight as the best bet at Randwick Kensington this Wednesday.

Randwick Kensington Roughie - Race 5 No. 1 Riva Capri

Concede that the short favourite Archanna could very well be anything off a smart debut win, however she does arrive five weeks between runs and has been scratched in that time (setback?).

Now under the care of Kris Lees is this ex-Kiwi mare who after drifting back from a wide alley in her May 6 Australian debut, got home in the fastest last 600m for that 1250m event (35.83) for an eventual sixth-placed finish.

Riva Capri was a second-up listed winner back in New Zealand last time in and was set a task after that when tackling some of the star three-year-old's over which included Catalyst.

She finds herself up in the weights now, but does come against her own sex and from barrier three where Kerrin McEvoy can give Riva Capri a soft run in transit, she's not hopeless here.

Randwick Kensington Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Oakfield Twilight

After delivering a string of consistent performances at the back-end of 2019, this gelding was ordinary in two starts to begin this campaign and hence was sent for a freshen-up.

With a soft trial win in early April, in was a much improved effort at Canterbury grinding away for third behind Lesage and Adelong, who franked that form by bolting in by two and a half lengths at Rosehill last Saturday.

He did put two lengths on Blazing Miss in that same event, another subsequent Saturday winner, so it may be worth forgiving the May 2 flop in stronger company on a card that was assisting the swoopers.

Oakfield Twilight has the blinkers on for the first time and as has been displayed in past performances, he can be a hard horse to pass when allowed to dictate in the lead, which he maps to do in the penultimate.
