Saturday Sydney racing will be run on the Kensington circuit at Royal Randwick this week where the track is currently rated a Heavy 8.

The rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Randwick-Kensington Favorite - Race 2 No. 4 Mr Magical

Aiming to to remain unbeaten at start number three in Saturday's Highway is ths gelding from the Jamie Stewart yard in Moruya.

He did enough to score on debut back in February when holding out two subsequent winners straight from that Maiden in Fantini and Shenandoah then was sent straight to the paddock.

Resuming at Nowra on a Soft 7 surface in June, Mr Magical has comfortably put away a useful Class 1 field to the tune of 2.23 lengths and bettered the time set by De Grawin (Provincial winner) in the five furlong race prior to that.

He has the early speed to offset barrier 10 and what could very well be set play to land a $75,000 race, Mr Magical can make it a hat-trick at an early $5 quote which is fair for galloper that has a lot of improvement to come.

Randwick-Kensington Roughie - Race 4 No. 12 Azarmin

In one of the more events on this Randwick-Kensington card, this mare shouldn't be discounted despite the bolters odds on offer.

We had her as our value bet on the June 17 program from Warwick Farm where she very honest for second behind the handy Lewis who franked that form to roll Frosty Rocks and co last Saturday at Rosehill.

Whilst she wasn't exactly eye-catching, she was set a monster task when attempting the 1800m last time out and ultimately, just had too much work to do after settling at the rear.

Azarmin was scratched from a Gosford race on Thursday which she looked close to a good thing in and from a kinder draw here, she's going well enough to run a cheeky race here at a big price.

Randwick-Kensington Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Black Magnum

This resuming five-year-old has an excellent fresh record and ticks plenty of boxes for this five furlong dash off a good trial leading in back in June.

Prepared by the very astute Mark Newnham stable who's striking at 22% in July, Black Magnum should relish the Benchmark 78 class he faces here after taking on stronger races last time in.

After winning fresh with 60kg on his back, Black Magnum was sent around as a short favourite against the likes of Greyworm (subsequent group winner that beat dual group one winner Trekking in the process) along with Inanup who was an impressive winner last Saturday.

Black Magnum's has won his last two first-up attempts which includes a three and a half length romp on heavy ground and camping just behind a hot early tempo, he can launch late in a very winnable event.

Randwick-Kensington Best Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Strawb

Newcastle trainer Nathan Doyle has had an impressive year so far with 22 winners at a strike rate of 26% and brings his classiest galloper for a much deserved tilt at city level.

By Fastnet Rock and out of a half-sister to the eight time group one-winning champion More Joyous, Strawb has been a work in progress where barrier manners cost her via the only blemish in her last four outings at Scone last time in.

She's unbeaten from both starts this campaign and has been running slick time in the process with her July 4 romp signalling that they are starting to iron out her defiencies.

This isn't the strongest Saturday assignment where most of her opposition are right at their mark and as the one seemingly still on the up, Strawb can continue her winning ways as the best bet at Randwick-Kensington.

Randwick-Kensington Value Bet - Race 9 No. 5 Adana

We concede that the best winning chance of the race is the highly progressive La Gai Soleil, however, with the favourite rock bottom odds presently at $1.70, this mare appeals as the better wager on an each-way basis.

Whilst she hasn't been able to score this preparation, Adana has been very consistent in this benchmark with her latest effort resulting in a second to the in-form Agassi on July 4.

Despite briefly looking the winner when angling into the clear, Agassi was just able to dictate that event a little too well from the front and still only very narrowly held off this five-year-old who was game in defeat.

The Kensington track can favor the swoopers late on a wet track meeting and with the alley allowing Sam Clipperton to take advantage of that, Adana should again be in the mix in a race with a long tail to it.
