Wagga Tips August 26

DIAGEO AUSTRALIA SHOWCASE 3YO MAIDEN PLATE Tips (Race 5)

Wagga Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Giddy Up Gidleigh

While is there is a little more depth to this line up than the field he faced on debut, it was hard to miss that August 3 performance from this three-year-old who rattled home from off the speed to grab third over the 900m at Moruya.

That followed a nice lead up trail, with Giddy Up Gidleigh working to the line under his own steam in a Sapphire Coast heat on July 25, making both public hit outs on soft ground and now over this extra trip, he looks much better suited, bringing key race experience.

Certainly, respecting the favourite Flying Award, a filly dropping down from Provincial level and ex-Kiwi Titled, who was fourth in a Listed race in New Zealand, but this gelding clearly has ability and we're getting an each-way price due to the two market elects.

Wagga Value Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Blackall

Kembla Grange trainer Gwenda Markwell has accepted with four runners on the August 26 Wagga meeting, which includes this resuming four-year-old, a galloper that was competitive in three Provincial performances throughout his second campaign.

The first-up effort on a testing surface at Hawkesbury was terrific, coming from the rear in a muddling affair and at longer odds following that on his home circuit, Blackall arguably should've won when badly held-up until late, flying home on the inside when it was over.

While he was plain third-up, I'm not convinced the son of Bull Point ran the mile out on May 29 and despite being urged along a little late in an August 11 trial which he almost won, the blinkers weren't on in that piece of work, but they'll be applied for race day.

Wagga Best Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Another One

Currently a $15 chance for the $1.3 million dollar Kosciuszko on October 16 is this talented gelding from the local Gary Colvin yard, one that could end up city class in time and there's a decent case to suggest he should've won the Country Championships Final.

In that $500,000 feature on the first day of 'The Championships', Another One was brave when forced to work wide throughout the Randwick 1400m whereas the winner Art Cadeau had a softer run on a slower tempo (swap the runs/swap the results).

This galloper has won three of four outings on his home track at Wagga, with the only exception being a very unlucky second to Lion's Roar, a subsequent Group One winner and off a good trial, I'd be surprised if he wasn't forward enough, with Kosciuszko voting in mind.

Verdict

Another One resumes in Race 7 from Wagga this Thursday and has trialled up up well.

Giddy Up Gidleigh can be supported each-way in Race 5 and in Race 6, Blackall has some claims, a gelding that was good early last prep.

Next Best Bet: Giddy Up Gidleigh Each Way $6.00 at Palmerbet - 4 Units
