Stony Creek Tips January 5
Pink Rose Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate Tips (Race 1)
Stony Creek Best Bet – Race 1 No. 7 Florescent Star
It appears a change of scenery has done this filly the world of good, having had one start for the Freedman camp for a shocking run, before being transferred to the Yargi yard and running a pair of seconds over the winter of 2020
She was second at Seymour two starts back on soft ground before finishing just one length off of Maddox at Moe on heavy ground.
Maybe the softer tracks are to her liking, but after watching her most recent jumpout at Mornington where she led them up and only just got run down, she looks to have come back in her best form.
The 1100m suits first-up, so expect her to roll to the front and kick away on the tight Stony Creek bend.
South Gippsland Sentinel Times Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)
Stony Creek Next Best Bet – Race 3 No. 3 High Maintenance
With the short priced favourite having had just the one career run and now stepping up to 2100m second-up, I am happy to go with the fit and very much in-form gelding from the Matthew Brown yard.
His first seven starts were average, but he seems to have now found his mojo, placing in his last three with his best effort coming two starts back.
High Maintenace was left in front a long way from home before being swooped upon by two horses down the outside to finish less than two lengths from them.
With the tactical advantage over the favourite, he looks likely to push forward from a wide alley and hopefully a pinch a break in the run home.
Better Rural Health Services Maiden Plate Tips (Race 4)
Stony Creek Value Bet – Race 4 No. 7 King Lenny
Although he performed well below market expectations at Bairnsdale last start, this gelding can bounce back now at his second run at the mile.
King Lenny started odds-on last start, after a very encouraging run two back at Echuca when very stiff not to win, but last start did not reflect that effort when fading badly at his first go at the mile.
His starting price profile is better than that of a $10 shot in a race with what looks very few chances, so on a 1x3 basis, he looks very appealing.
Short priced favourite Golden Loop is clearly the one to beat, but with better than even money for the place for this Greg Eurell-trained three-year-old, he appeals at the price.

High Maintenance looks ready to win and can take up the running on the tight circuit.
King Lenny was poor at an odds-on quote last start, but at double figures is worth a play based off the run two starts ago.
