Splendoronthegrass made it two wins from three starts in Queensland after taking out Race 2 at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Stepping back in grade after contesting Listed company last start, Stephanie Thornton produced a beautiful ride from barrier six aboard the David Vandyke trained mare.
“It worked out perfectly because on paper I thought it could map a bit tricky,” Thornton said.
“After last start I spoke to David (Vandyke) and thought maybe with the earmuffs off it may sharpen her up a bit.
“She was a little keen early, but once we got into the perfect spot and once we got cover it was perfect.”
Although the So You Think mare has never been tested over further than 1400m, there is a strong possibility that may change in the coming weeks.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if she does step up to the mile now she has had the run over 1400m with the earmuffs off,” Thornton said.
