Seymour Tips October 22

Go Nagambie 4yo+ Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)

Seymour Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Cape Omnia

The gelding has performed well in all three starts to date, including when placing second in both starts in his first campaign.

The second of those outings saw him place second to a subsequent winner in a 14-runner 1200m maiden held here in April.

The four-year-old was given a break following that effort and returned with a solid fourth, beaten just under two-and-a-half-lengths over 1100m at Ballarat.

Trained by Mitchell Freedman, the son of Headwater raced on a Good 4 track at Ballarat and the return to a soft surface is in his favour here.

A wide alley shouldn’t pose any issues for jockey John Allen, given Cape Omnia has been ridden from mid-division or off the pace in all three previous starts.

Fowles Wine Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)

Seymour Value Bet - Race 3 No. 10 Perovic

The three-year-old made his debut in a metro contest at Flemington back in June and after racing close to the speed, he faded late on that day and was well beaten.

That contest was won by subsequent Group 3 winner and Caulfield Guineas third Steparty, while the second home has also won at a good level since.

Perovic took a step forward following a spell when seventh in a 1300m maiden at Bendigo earlier this month.

A change of tactics saw the three-year-old race from off the pace on that occasion and while beaten over five lengths there, he should appreciate the step up in distance he gets here.

Trainer Danny O’Brien is in great form and his representative here looks value to break his maiden.

Bet365 Seymour Cup (Listed) Tips (Race 8)

Seymour Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 8 Golden Path

The four-year-old is by far the least experienced runner in the field, with just five starts to his name, however, he has won two of those.

The most recent of those victories saw him put nearly three-and-a-half-lengths between himself and his rivals in the Silver Bowl Series Final at Flemington in March.

Golden Path was spelled following that contest and has performed well in defeat in both starts this time around, including when three lengths fourth in the 1500m Group 3 Sandown Stakes.

The son of Belardo raced prominently on that occasion and that form is working out well, with the winner Antino placing in last weekend’s Group 1 Toorak Handicap, while the third has won since.

That effort came on a Good 3 track and a more forgiving surface will suit on Sunday.

Annabelle Cleeland MP For Euroa BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Seymour Best Bet - Race 9 No. 3 Zamborghini

The gelding won each of his first two starts in 2022, including when taking out a four-runner race over this distance at Moonee Valley in March of that year.

The four-year-old was set some tough assignments at three, subsequently racing in Group company in three of his four starts.

The best of those saw the entire finishing ninth in the 1200m H.D.F. McNeil Stakes, a Group 3 event over 1200m at Caulfield.

Zamborghini has been off the track since beating one rival home in the 1600m Group 2 Sandown Guineas at Caulfield in November last year.

Connections have skipped a BM78 event at Moe to tackle this lower-grade event and that shrewd decision can pay dividends here.
