Sandown Tips for February 3
Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Sandown Best Bet - Race 3 No. 4 Maui
This three-year-old from the Stokes yard was heavily supported last start at Pakenham when running second behind Biggus, leaving himself with too much to do from back in the field.
The son of Ocean Park now faces the big flat track of Sandown Hillside where he will get every opportunity second-up, stripping fitter from the fresh outing over the mile.
Jamie Kah on is a big booking, showing that there is a lot of confidence coming from the stable.
With some more speed engaged this time around, Maui can power over the top of this field late.
Ladbrokes Easy Form Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Sandown Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 7 Safe Passage
This Danny O'Brien-trained filly was well backed into an even money favourite fresh at Pakenham, and did not let the punters down, winning with something in hand.
She had won a Maiden over in New Zealand before two Australian runs which were just okay at best, but has clearly come on further in this second preparation.
If the penny has dropped with Safe Passage, then she could well and truly measure up at Saturday level, so despite the big rise in weight, a fillies and mare Benchmark 64 should be well within her reach.
A daughter of Snitzel, the 1300m trip is not too much of a concern given the authority of her two wins, so happy to be playing her as one of the best bets on the program.
Tile Importer Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Sandown Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Hydro Star
I am a little shocked at the early price that is available for this very talented three-year-old.
His first-up run in 78 grade was big from the back of the field where the winner Japery has since measured up in higher class.
Better suited around a bend and at a track that he has experience at, this colt by Headwater has clear ability but just needs to find himself in a handier position than that last attempt and can get tow into this late from a three-wide line.
I see no issues now going up in trip to the 1300m due to his racing pattern, so I am expecting another solid performance in a very winnable event.

Verdict
Maui looks a progressive horse going forward and getting to Sandown will only suit him.
Safe Passage is a Filly on the rise and has a lot of ability based on last starts market support.
Hydro Star was very good in a race where the leader was too nippy down the straight, so happy to have him on top back around a bend.
