Race 7 No. 1 Highland Harley
The five-year-old showed good form earlier this season including when placing second in a 1400m Benchmark 58 handicap at Seymour in November.
The pick raced on a good 4 track when racing on the pace that day and he was spelled following that effort.
The drop back in distance is no issue here with the gelding having won twice over around this distance last prep.
The first of those victories came when racing first up on her debut for trainer Enver Jusufovic in a Benchmark 58 handicap at Warracknabeal in August.
The selection came home nearly six lengths clear of her rivals when racing on a soft 5 track that day and she has forecast underfoot conditions to suit.
The daughter of Highland Reel has trialled well ahead of her return to action and she looks capable of resuming with a win.
Next Best:
Race 5 No. 8 No New Tricks
The veteran registered a good effort when finishing fourth of seven having jumped at $26 for a seven runner Benchmark 64 handicap at Moonee Valley first up this prep.
The gelding raced on a sound surface that day and delivered a good effort in finishing runner-up when racing on a soft 6 track stepped up to 1400m at Cranbourne last time.
The drop to country-level racing appeared to suit that day with the gelding finishing strongly having jumped from barrier seven in a seven-runner field.
While the gelding hasn’t always been at his best when racing at this venue in the past he delivered a good fourth in a 1400m Benchmark 58 handicap here in August last year.
Logan Bates, on board at Moonee Valley returns to the saddle here and he looks up to steering the son of Fighting Sun to his eighth career win.
Market Mover:
Race 8 No. 6 Cha Cha Changes
Ben, JD & Will Hayes’ representative broke through for her first win when successful by three lengths over 1700m at Geelong last month.
The four-year-old tackles winners for the first time here and she has been supported from over $3.40 into $2.80 with Ladbrokes for the finale.
Celine Gaudray, on board at Geelong is again set to ride here with her mount scheduled to face fourteen rivals in the Benchmark 58 handicap.
Stats Say:
Daniel Stackhouse currently sits second on the state Jockey Premiership and he holds strong claims of improving on his near 19% strike-rate (56/298) at country meetings at this fixture.
The rider is booked for six rides including likely short-priced favourite Scorched Lane for Anthony & Sam Freedman in the opener.
Among the jockey’s other mounts is Rishiri, a winner at Kilmore on his penultimate start who is expected to feature prominently in the betting in the penultimate race on the card.
