Sale Signtorque Maiden Plate Tips (Race 4)
Sale Best Bet – Race 4 No. 4 Emphasize
The New Zealand-bred gelding recorded a couple of third-place finishes from five starts in jumpout’s prior to debuting last month.
The second of those third place finishes came over 1000m when encountering a heavy 8 surface at Cranbourne at the start of last month.
The pick went on to deliver a highly-promising effort in finish third in a 1400m maiden held on a good 4 track at this venue when debuting just under three weeks later.
The son of Embellish was ridden cold on debut doing best of those to race from off the pace in being beaten a length by a couple of more experienced rivals.
Trained by Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young the gelding is expected to have improved for that debut effort with Thomas Stockdale retaining the ride.
The step up in distance is expected to suit the selection and he looks capable of overcoming a wide barrier to break his maiden at the second time of asking.

The filly demonstrated good form as a two-year-old including when registering a fourth in an 1100m Benchmark 66 handicap at Morphettville at the start of June.
The pick had previously placed third in a Mornington maiden with both of those efforts coming on wet tracks.
The three-year-old resumed with a good fifth, beaten less than a length over 1000m on a good 4 surface at Mornington early last month.
The selection faded in the closing stages having raced from the front on that occasion and she was ridden with more restraint when tracking the speed at Yarra Glen two weeks later.
The change of tactics saw the daughter of I Am Invincible break her maiden by half-a-length when racing over this distance with both of her efforts this prep coming on a good 4 track.
The runner-up at Yarra Glen went on to win at the same venue last week and Anthony & Sam Freedman’s representative looks value to complete a double.

Trainer Reece Goodwin has made a good start to 2025 saddling a double at Stony Creek on Saturday.
The handler’s representative here has performed well in defeat in all three starts this prep with the first two of those coming at Geelong.
The five-year-old lost out by half-a-length when contesting a 1543m Benchmark 58 handicap at the track on his penultimate outing.
The pick followed that effort up with a third, beaten just over six lengths when stepped up to this distance for a similar contest at Stony Creek later that month.
The son of Bon Aurum finished behind Grand Sage last time out however that rival isn’t certain to replicate that effort here having been out of form prior.
The selection usually races from the front and jumping from next to the rail he is taken to make all the running with useful apprentice Tom Prebble taking a valuable two-kilogram’s off his back.

Sale Roughie – Race 7 No. 5 Lochlorian
The four-year-old demonstrated good form last prep placing in all three starts including twice at this venue.
All three of those efforts came in maiden company and he resumed with a solid fourth over 1200m at Moonee Valley in November.
The Toronado gelding broke through for his first win when saluting by just under a length when contesting a 1300m event at Bendigo at the start of last month.
The selection raced on a heavy 10 track at Bendigo with the form working out well thanks to subsequent wins for the third and fourth that day.
While the gelding could finish only sixth over 1400m in a similar race to this at Cranbourne last time he was unable to get a run in the straight and was beaten less than two lengths in the end.
The pick showed enough that day to suggest that he can be competitive at this level and with Jye McNeil and eye-catching jockey booking he is taken to double his career tally.
