Sale Tips for June 9
Peter Gray BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Sale Best Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Heir To The Throne
If the expected rain comes, we are going to end up on a heavy 10 track which is what this gelding will be looking for, a survival of the fittest over this trip.
He bolted in two back at Cranbourne and could not make the necessary ground when back in trip last time out, so is better suited up to 2232m here.
Heir To The Throne has won three of six in the heavy conditions and is a winner at Sale, so he looks to have the necessary boxes ticked for me.
He is going to get a gun run in transit and looks the deserved favourite in some of his best form heading into this race.
John Allman BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Sale Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 4 Cash For Diamonds
Another who is hanging out for a very wet track is this mare, with four of her six career wins coming in these conditions.
She is yet to show his best in four runs this time in, but is yet to even strike soft ground this prep so a trip to East Gippsland on Wednesday is going to suit him down to the ground.
Her last win was over this track and trip in wet ground so he has two boxes ticked from that stat.
I have heard a whisper that the Cash For Diamonds is going well and just needs this wet ground to show her best, so if the rain comes, expect her to start much shorter.
Anthony Lee BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Sale Value Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Frankly Harvey
Another who is going to shorten if the rain comes is this seven-year-old who is yet to miss a placing in 10 starts on a heavy deck.
A big factor coming to the last race at Sale on a wet deck is drawing wide and being able to come wide which is where this gelding will be if he does not lead.
Frankly Harvey was ridden quietly two back when hitting the line well for second behind Over The Sky who has subsequently won again, so the form is also good from that event.
The 1400m is his ideal journey and in wet conditions, he will start single figures with multiple factors in his favour.
