RANVET HANDICAP Tips (Race 2)
Randwick-Kensington Value Bet - Race 2 No. 3 Lillium
Having not raced since winning a Canterbury Maiden back in November, 2019, it was a fantastic training performance from Les Bridge to get this now five-year-old to salute first-up at Kembla Grange on April 3.
A half-sister to Group Three winner Anise and from the same family as Group One winners Easy Rocking and Fairy King Prawn, Lillium clearly has her fair share of ability with the Maiden triumph a real eye-catcher when showing a sharp turn-of-foot to sprint away late over the 1250m.
While the five-year-old was only fair second-up at Warwick Farm, she's gone to the line with Turnstyle, a mare that bolted in last Wednesday and third-up from long spell, is certainly open to further improvement.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE MEYN HANDICAP Tips (Race 3)
Randwick-Kensington Value Bet - Race 3 No. 9 Yangarra Rose
Over her first two preparations, this filly was very honest with the only flop coming in January where the post-race veterinary examination revealed multiple cuts to both hind fetlocks and a slow recovery.
While it was at Provincial level, the daughter of Zoustar had no luck in two prior spring attempts when caught wide first-up at Gosford and followed that with another second via a leader dominated affair over the Wyong 1200m.
Both trials leading into into Wednesday's resumption have been strong and ideally ridden with cover here under Kerrin McEvoy off what looks a good speed, it should allow her to finish off with the winkers now replacing the blinkers.
PKF SYDNEY HANDICAP Tips (Race 4)
Randwick-Kensington Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 4 Bethencourt
A striking grey like his talented sire Puissance de Lune is this gelding from the Kim Waugh yard who was spelled following a brave debut win and second-up last spring, relished the rise in trip to record win number two.
Out of a group three winning mare in Rhythm To Paris, Bethencourt ran good time for the card via that first 1200m victory where he was faster on the clock than two of the Benchmark races that followed his event, where he was able to lead.
Returning over 1250m at Canterbury on May 5, he just lacked the dash at that trip on a Heavy 8, but now getting up to a much more suitable journey and with James McDonald taking back the reins, this gelding is well placed.
