Randwick-Kensington Tips January 2
PRECISE AIR HANDICAP Tips (Race 4)
Randwick-Kensington Favourite - Race 4 No. 2 Private Eye
We'll again go the way of this promising three-year-old from the Joe Pride stable who bolted in on a Heavy track at start two before being tipped out and returned with an excellent win at Gosford on December 2.
A half-brother to stable mate and multiple city winner Royal Witness, Private Eye's fresh performance was quite arrogant in the finish where he reeled in Dawn Too Good comfortably and went to the line under his own steam where he safely recorded the fastest of three 1100m contests on that program.
He was equally as brilliant when scoring over the 1250m at Randwick-Kensington as our best bet on December 17 and whilst Never Never River is a very worthy opponent off a fresh win in good time, this contest overall isn't much harder and he drops 2.5kg off that last run.
MAROUBRA HANDICAP Tips (Race 5)
Randwick-Kensington Best Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Edison
Simply, this very honest son of Fastnet Rock just knows how to win is and I'm struggling to find a good reason as to why he can't secure a hat-trick of victories in the fifth from Randwick-Kensington this Saturday.
He followed a fighting third-up win when picking himself up late with a more dominant display on December 19 where after working across early from a wide alley, put a length and a half on the next runner home and if anything, the prospect of a wetter surface suits him more (won on a Heavy 8 over 1500m in the winter).
Edison is quite a straight forward galloper in that he makes his own luck on the speed and has the ability kick off seemingly any tempo while facing another field where most of his opposition don't win out of turn, he's well placed to progress further as the best bet on the card.
THE AGENCY REAL ESTATE HANDICAP Tips (Race 6)
Randwick-Kensington Value Bet - Race 6 No. 8 Nordicus
A superbly bred four-year-old by Dundeel and out the five-time Group One winning superstar mare Miss Finland, Nordicus has shown glimpses of ability over his short journey to date albeit is getting a little costly.
With just the nine starts to his name, this gelding has time on his side to improve that winning strike-rate and was quite unlucky both first and second-up last campaign where it took a freakish Indy Car to roll him, who bolted in at Listed level following that before spotting them a big start at Warwick Farm and rattling home for a third-place finish.
I'm willing to forgive the fresh return for this campaign on December 17, where he was caught trying to work home in the worst part of the track and the trial leading into that was excellent when comfortably accounting for what was a rather handy field.
TAB HANDICAP Tips (Race 7)
Randwick-Kensington Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 3 Snowfire
Whilst he failed in a bid to make it four successive victories, Snowfire is still very much a horse on an upwards spiral and it was ultimately a wide gate that cost second-up on December 12, albeit they didn't go hard up front.
This Team Hawkes galloper has improved with racing where after a disappointing start to his last campaign, strung together back-to-back wins at the Provincials prior to his fresh return at Rosehill when launching late to grab Rammstein, who was runner-up in a Saturday event following that.
A winner over a mile back in July with 60.5kg on his back, the son of Star Witness did continue to whack away over the final furlong in that recent 1400m assignment where despite lacking that dash late in proceedings as a result of covering ground, wasn't beaten far on the line and it did indicate that this step up in trip now would be ideal.

Private Eye (Race 4) and Snowfire (Race 8) are both leading contenders in their respective events.
Nordicus had excuses first-up and is a much bigger price this time around (Race 6).
