Randwick Tips September 30

Race 1 - 11:55AM Midway Handicap Tips (1800m)

Best: 11. Whisky Wisdom. As a four-year-old in a second prep after a searching first campaign that culminated in a Group 1 Vinery attempt, she's one of the few with genuine upside in this Midway.

With a solid 1200m return, followed by a tick-over trial and 1500m Kembla outing, there's a decent third-up platform for Whisky Wisdom to attack the 1800m, a trip that she is looking for.

Winkers go on after her third behind Riff Rocket and Snowman, two progressive Waller runners that filled a BM72 quinella on Wednesday, so the form is holding up.

Value: 4. Philipsburg. Coming back to his level a fortnight ago after some decent BM78 showings, we were with Philipsburg in that September 16 outing and he arguably should've won.

Looking to come off the inside and angle for a run passing the 400m, he couldn't clear and sprint at those key stages, with the six-year-old kept in a pocket when the sprint was on.

They're again trying past a mile and while the gelding doesn't appear to run a strong 10 furlongs, 1800m at this level is okay, while gun hoop Blake Shinn is now aboard.

Race 2 - 12:30PM Keeneland Gimcrack Stakes Tips (1000m)

Best: 5. Invincible Madison. This is the first foal out of the speed machine Super Too, a one-dimensional dasher that got found out at Stakes level, but there's no doubt that she was fast.

Invincible Madison didn't lead and scorch the turf in her first public appearance, with the daughter of I Am Invincible trailing the leaders before showing a turn-of-foot late on September 18.

It was a professional showing from the Team Snowden filly and vs these Waterhouse & Bott speedsters who are harder to gauge, this could be the one pouncing late.

Value: 12. Umabett. A strong filly from the Annabel Neasham stable, Umabett looks like a type that will fill out and prosper over further, however, her breeding supports an early appearance.

Chad Schofield stays aboard the juvenile following the third in an 845m trial via the September 18 set on the Kensington circuit, where she was looked after late in the piece.

Annabel's runners rarely trial the house down, yet this two-year-old moved well and looked forward enough, and they would've spelled her if there were any queries.

Race 3 - 1:05PM Arrowfield Breeders' Plate Tips (1000m)

Best: 11. Scampi. This Maher & Eustace-trained colt is by Blue Point and out of the lightly raced sprinter Sistonic, a mare that has already produced a Group 3 winner in Semillion.

Blind Freddy didn't miss his September 18 trial, where he looked comfortably the most professional of the two-year-olds that morning, with Scampi travelling comfortably on the bridle.

While he was in a position to open a big margin on his rivals in that Kensington hit-out, he switched off late under his own steam and looked a ready-made racehorse.

Value: 6. Fearless. Team Snowden has a big hand in the Breeders' Plate, accepting with five runners for this juvenile feature and this son Pierata has worked as well as any of them.

After taking a trail beyond the leaders, he showed good smarts to wait and take a gap without overreacting or shying, which is admirable for a baby in a first public outing.

Fearless then responded to riding and lengthened nicely to nail Prost in the concluding stages, while from barrier eight on Saturday, he'll look for a tow into this late.

Race 4 - 1:40PM Bisley Workwear Handicap Tips (1600m)

Best: 13. Altivo. Despite a soft trial and resuming in a BM78 with 61kg, Altivo stayed firm in the market for his first-up assignment on September 16, where he was luckless over 1400m.

The Team Hawkes galloper was travelling strong and had plenty to offer, but unfortunately, he couldn't get out in the home straight and went to the line untested under Zac Lloyd.

A wide alley over the Randwick mile isn't necessarily a disadvantage and with the leader (For Valour) drawn to his outside, he could settle in the first two or three pairs.

Value: 5. Stroke Of Luck. While he couldn't salute other than his maiden triumph, this John O'Shea-trained gelding was very honest in 10 outings over his three-year-old season.

His second prep culminated with a third in the Queensland Derby and especially given the long lead-up ahead of the Australian Derby in autumn, he was brave staying up that long.

Stroke Of Luck was a good thing licked in the Tulloch Stakes and was arguably more effective in the 1600m-2000m range, so resuming at a mile off two fair trials should suit.

Race 5 - 2:15PM Catanach's Jewellers Dulcify Stakes Tips (1600m)

Best: 1. Tom Kitten. Although he gave weight to his rivals, the Godolphin colt was still a silly price first-up over the Rosehill 1300m, where he rattled home to take out that Group 3.

Tom Kitten then lost no admirers when third as a beaten fav in the Ming Dynasty on September 9, where he was back and covering ground, yet still sustained a long gallop at Rosehill.

Matching Militarize and Steparty will be a task, but he's still Godolphin's number 1 Caulfield Guineas seed and he needs to put this lot away to warrant that trip down south.

Value: 4. Cafe Millenium. From the Ming Dynasty, Tom Kitten and Cafe Millenium were the two to follow with 1600m+ in mind, albeit this three-year-old didn't do the work that the fav did.

He still motored home in that second-up outing and while the son of Not A Single Doubt was a stylish debut winner at 1100m in February, he's always looked a middle-distance type.

This outing will decide what route they take going forward and with the blinkers going for the first time aboard a colt has his quirks, Cafe Millenium could explode third-up.

Race 6 - 2:50PM Darley Flight Stakes Tips (1600m)

Best: 7. Mollynickers. It's interesting that co-trainer Katherine Coleman brought up the possibility of spelling Mollynickers after this Flight Stakes attempt, so this may have been the spring target a long way out.

The Victorian-based contender brings separate form lines, having resumed with s strong chasing effort in the Atlantic Jewel Stakes behind Charm Stone, who was competitive in the Golden Rose.

From barrier 10 over the 1200m at Moonee Valley, that was effectively a barrier trial for Mollynickers, who had recorded victories at starts two and three in July, hence the freshen-up/short spring.

Value: 12. Unique Ambition. This daughter of Tavistock was very unlucky when held up at key stages of the Tea Rose Stakes and via that key Flight Stakes lead-up, there's no doubt she should've finished much closer.

J-Mac was another that didn't miss that September 16 performance, with the champion hoop taking this Group 1 engagement and over the 1600m now third-up, she's close to a peak.

Although she's drawn out, that's not necessarily a disadvantage over the Randwick mile and with the blinkers going on now, they may roll forward and keep the fav (Tiz Invincible) working.

Unique Ambition - $12.00Randwick Race Sixbet now

Race 7 - 3:25PM Precise Air Premiere Stakes Tips (1200m)

Best: 2. Think About It. With champions in Nature Strip and Eduardo retired, and now Giga Kick out of spring contention, Think About It currently shades I Wish I Win for Everest favouritism.

If he can stretch his streak here first-up in what's effectively the final dress rehearsal, then expect the son of So You Think to shorten again for the 20 million dollar sprint on October 14.

Taking on the best out-and-out sprinters is a new challenge, but with a near-perfect record and as a five-year-old with only 10 starts, the two-time Group 1 winner can still improve.

Value: 1. Lost And Running. On firm ground and with excuses in both autumn appearances in unsuitable conditions, the market move for him first-up in The Shorts wasn't a shock.

Lost And Running had trialled up superbly ahead of that September 16 appearance and although disappointing, his sprint was taken away due to the work he did without cover.

Having not produced for over 12 months, the seven-year-old is at a crossroads, but with a soft draw and a run under his belt, we'll get a much better gauge on him here.

Race 8 - 4:05PM TAB Epsom Tips (1600m)

Best: 10. Kovalica. Despite the big spruik surrounding this Chris Waller-trained four-year-old ahead of the spring, he simply found the 1300m too sharp when resuming in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes.

Moving stylishly through his gears under Joao Moreira, who stays aboard for the Epsom Handicap, the son of Ocean Park was strong through the line via a 1050m tick-over trial on September 22.

While he's proved his staying credentials over longer trips, Kovalica is unbeaten from three 1600m attempts and he also has a perfect second-up record, so expect a much-improved showing here.

Value: 15. Madame Pommery. It was a monster return from last year's Thousand Guineas winner, who pushed the in-form Pericles when a narrow second over 1400m first-up at Rosehill.

Punters perhaps went a run too soon when sending Madame Pommery out as a $7 chance in the Theo Marks and while she wasn't disgraced there, back to 1300m didn't suit second-up.

Right down in the weights here for the Epsom Handicap and with 1600m third-up on a bigger circuit being advantageous, it's a nice set-up for the Waller mare, albeit she has a sticky map.

Race 9 - 4:45PM James Squire Metropolitan Tips (2400m)

Best: 14. Just Fine. Under handicap conditions in The Metropolitan, this Waterhouse & Bott-trained import is thrown in at the weights, carrying just 50kg in this Group 1, which is a massive 5kg drop from his last start.

Just Fine has created an immediate impression Down Under, with the six-year-old opening his Australian account with back-to-back wins, which includes a strong on-pace victory on September 16.

That last start triumph was via the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes, while having defeated Montefilia and Protagonist there under set weights and penalties, this is a much easier assignment on paper.

Just Fine - $1.90Randwick Race Ninebet now

Value: 3. Cleveland. While he ultimately failed when well-fancied in the Sydney Cup, the son of Camelot has acquitted himself well in his three other Australian outings, which includes two runs this campaign.

Despite being easily the class runner in the Newcastle Cup and being a well-backed fav as a result, Cleveland was simply left with too much to do on September 15, but it was still a pass mark.

Along with dropping in the weights for The Metropolitan, the entire also gets the blinkers applied and coming out of a fast run 2300m second-up should top him off nicely on Saturday.

Race 10 - 5:25PM City Tattersalls Group Handicap Tips (1200m)

Best: 8. Kibou. It was admittedly a narrow victory, but fresh after a few setbacks and in just his second appearance since the winter of 2022, he was always going to be vulnerable on return.

As he was forced to the donkey in dragging the field up the leader, Kibou was hardly handed that September 16 victory on a platter and the runner-up (Garza Blanca) is hardly a slouch.

With subsequent Group 1 form produced from his two-year-old season, he's not short on quality and while a Golden Eagle is perhaps the spring target, staying at 1200m for now is fine.

Value: 17. Phearson. Although he's a six-year-old now, Phearson is still very lightly raced for his age, with the Brad Widdup-trained galloper having only 11 starts to his name.

Five of those outings came last autumn, where he first took out a Provincial Qualifier fresh and while he failed on a heavy track in the final, he bounced back after a freshen-up.

The son of Exosphere landed big bets when bolting in with a BM78, while he was almost successful with the 3kg penalty a fortnight later, and he still seems a little untapped.
