Randwick Tips September 17

Race 1 - 11:40AM TAB Highway Handicap Tips (1000m)

Selections: 2,16,18,1.

This is as strong as Highway's get, with many talented and progressive country sprinters contesting this Class 3. The unbeaten 2. LIMITED REALITY returns, a now four-year-old who clearly had a setback in autumn, but has trialled up well in good time recently. Proven in all conditions and while he's one of many that will push forward, Reece Jones may look for a trail, rather than leading.

16. Custo is still in his first prep, a colt that has won well either side of a provincial miss where he covered ground. Although he beat nothing last start at Muswellbrook, he defeated a handy one in Zenti on debut in July.

18. Robarge had no luck fresh, with the mare travelling sweetly before being badly inconvenienced at the 250m. She's a big each-way price ($20.00 @ Neds) here.

While 1. Shalstar is untried on wet ground, she rolled Sneaky Paige in Jun, a mare that's now won two city races this prep.

Race 2 - 12:15PM Midway Handicap Tips (1600m)

Selections: 6,14,4,1.

I've got a very big opinion of Waterford, a Waller import who remained unbeaten in Australia with an easy win last Sat when going up in the weights. Pushing that galloper the start prior was 6. MAHAGONI, who now brings that form back to a Midway third-up. He also defeated Kalino in that latest effort, who was just rolled last week and that form really stands out. Looks the obvious.

14. Loving Cilla made our blackbook file first-up on Aug 27 when coming with a wide run from the rear and recording the fastest last 600m and 200m of the Midway. Down in the weights, she a blowout ($35.00 @ BoomBet) chance.

While he was aided by the track bias, 4. Navajo Peak was still 1300m to 1800m when bolting in a fortnight ago. He now has a wide gate to overcome.

1. Zou De Moon didn't want any further than a mile third-up when beating Just A Jedi, who went very close on Wed.

Race 3 - 12:50PM Peachester Lodge Shoot Out Mile Tips (1600m)

Selections: 8,2,7,3.

Tricky race with a small field and three Waller contenders who are all hard to catch. 8. CABOCHE is the second favoured of the Waller brigade, although could be the one with the set-up here. Following a solid Rosehill return, the four-year-old trialled strongly on Sept 9 and Bowman stays aboard from that workout.

After four plain runs this year and a freshen-up, 2. Kiss The Bride improved out of sight with the blinkers on last start. He should've won that by further.

7. Grace And Harmony was superb first-up and when everyone was aboard second-up, she put in an absolute shocker.

3. Turn On The Charm rises 5.5kg off his last start sixth, although this is a decent drop in grade and he will go forward.

Race 4 - 1:25PM The Agency Real Estate Handicap Tips (1400m)

Selections: 13,11,14,8.

A half-brother to dual group winner Greysful Glamour, 13. ARNOLD went from maiden to BM72 level in style when recording an arrogant win over more seasoned rivals on Aug 24 and rather than take on a smart stablemate (Waterford) last week, they've opted to remain at 1400m third-up. J-Mac sticks, which although is a lead, punters are paying a tax, as the current quote is too short.

Even with a wide draw, 11. Roots has to be a threat, with the mare bouncing off a disappointing end to the autumn when recording a slashing fresh win. Keeping her away from staying trips and heavy tracks looks the key.

A lightly raced seven-year-old who showed brillance in NZ is outsider ($61.00 @ bet36514. Sindacato. Has been placed aggresively in Australia, considering his low rating.

8. Ita is super honest and with no first-up or 1200m form, it was a nice return against the track pattern here on Sept 3.

Race 5 - 2:00PM Bill Ritchie Handicap Tips (1400m)

Selections: 2,5,9,7.

The Bill Ritchie provides the winner with a ballot and penalty free path into the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (Oct 1). While he had no prior first-up form, the strong return from 2. PURPLE SECTOR came as no surprise, given he had trialled up well. Is very well in under this weight scale, carrying 3.5kg less and he has won second-up at Randwick.

I'm not sure 5. Cross Talk runs a strong mile at this level and he's suited back to 1400m on the freshen-up. Tim Clark should be controlling this up front.

9. Lackeen is a thinker, although has a race fitness edge over most of these and the recent tick-over trial was sound.

7. O'President makes his stable debut for Bjorn Baker (ex Waller). Has a host of gear changes and bolted in via a recent trial.

Race 6 - 2:40PM Darley Tea Rose Stakes Tips (1400m)

Selections: 5,2,3,1.

The clear form runner is the fav 5. ZOUGOTCHA, who safely accounted for all of her key rivals here (along with Run To The Rose winner In Secret) via the Silver Shadow on Aug 20. Theres's two sides in rating that victory, as she did receive a saloon passage to the eye, but the inside was considered the inferior going on that program, albeit that factor is being overplayed a little.

I loved the Australian debut of 2. Wolverine in that same event, coming from the rear with a last 600m of 33.97, which was easily fastest of that and 1400m suits off a tick-over trial. She'll likely peak in the Flight Stakes (Oct 1).

While North Star Lass and Willinga Beast cleared out (bias assisted) in the Furious Stakes, 3. Paris Dior is classier than that pair, but needs a firmer track.

1. North Star Lass fought hard to record a brave Furious Stakes win, although was helped largely by the track pattern.

Race 7 - 3:15PM Fujitsu General George Main Stakes Tips (1600m)

Selections: 3,1,10,5.

I'm happy to take J-Mac's lead and stick with the Godolphin star 3. ANAMOE in this heavyweight clash. With two lead-up trials ahead of his return, he always had the Winx Stakes at his mercy despite working home in slightly inferior going and now four weeks between runs with the Cox Plate being the spring grand final, James Cummings has kept the four-year-old ticking over at the trials.

If there's a hint of on-pace bias, expect 1. Zaaki to trim up in the betting, with the gelding looking to control this up front under Tommy Berry. With Zaaki on the pace and Anamoe chasing, it's all set up for a grandstand finish.

10. Hinged was one of the hidden performances of the Winx Stakes, as she was kept in a pocket by Profondo at a key stage in the run home, but got home well.

5. Profondo is going well, but hasn't had any favours (wide fresh, heavy track second-up). He's a knockout ($21.00 @ Betfair) if it isn't heavy.

Race 8 - 3:55PM Bowermans Shorts Tips (1100m)

Selections: 1,2,3,6.

A strong field has been assembled for what is effectively an Everest rehearsal and the starting point is the world's best sprinter 1. NATURE STRIP, who is resuming off a famous Royal Ascot romp and his subsequent work has been encouraging. The eight-year-old was rolled in this last year by his old rival Eduardo, although he did attack that edition second-up, which is when he's most vulnerable.

While he's a now a nine-year-old, 2. Eduardo is showing no signs of slowing down, with the popular veteran defying a big betting drift to win the Concorde fresh. He loses regular rider Nash Rawiller here due to suspension.

Scratched from that Concorde due to track downgrades was 3. Masked Crusader, although he trialled last week. He'll get back and try to launch late.

If 6. Classique Legend stays sound, he can easily roll Nature Strip and co in The Everest. Likely to need the gallop here though.

Race 9 - 4:35PM Furphy Kingston Town Stakes Tips (2000m)

Selections: 9,12,13,6.

After finding the line strongly in the Winx Stakes first-up, 9. BENAUD backed that up over a mile second-up, coming from off the speed to record an eye-catching fourth against a savage rails bias via the Chelmsford Stakes. He's looked sharper in this early four-year-old prep and this Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) provides a ballot-exempt route to The Metropolitan (2400m) on Oct 1.

We've been with 12. Surefire first and second-up, with the Waller import a brilliant fresh winner before tackling the Chelmsford. He did have excuses with that track pattern, but so did Benaud, who put three lengths on him.

13. Aleas recorded the fastest 600m/400m and 200m sectionals of the entire Rosehill cardon Aug 27 and clearly wasn't wound up. He's a huge price ($34.00 @ BlueBet) here.

Market is the best guide with 6. Gold Trip who has been unsighted since a decent return with a big weight on July 30.

Race 10 - 5:15PM Moraitis Cerebral Palsy Alliance Trophy Tips (1200m)

Selections: 14,8,2,3.

A kind forecast for Friday and Saturday should see 14. I AM LETHAL make his return, a talented sprinter that has been gelded after a short and failed autumn prep. By I Am Invincible and out of a Group 1 winning mare Steps In Time, this four-year-old certainly has a stallion's pedigree, so hopefully connections get rewarded on the track. Trialled up well and Pike is a positive booking.

Although he was still honest as a late three-year-old, 8. Battleton didn't quite measure up, where Bjorn Baker was trying him over 1400m-1600m. Perhaps better suited to the sprinting caper, he should get a soft run here first-up.

We gave 2. Dajraan a sniff on Aug 27, but instead of resuming there, he was scratched and trialled two days later. Has claims at an each-way price ($18.00 @ Palmerbet).

If they're making ground out wider, then include outsider 3. Never Talk, a mare with a big turn-of-foot when conditions suit.
