Randwick Tips June 25

Race 1 - 11:00AM TAB Highway Handicap Tips (1400m)

Selections: 5,6,11,2.

5. REMORSELESS may have found his right race here third-up, although it's a lottery of a Highway. Originally a Snowden youngster that showed ability early, he was asked to carry 63.5kg first-up on a Soft 7, which he didn't relish and was briefly held-up last start at the provincials, where he was one-paced when clear. Strips fitter and that Hawkesbury run suggested he was looking for 1400m.

6. Bootscooter went back-to-back before getting home for second on June 11 and drops to a Class 2 here. This filly comes off the bridle early and then builds momentum, indicating she'll get a trip, but comes back 100m. Has potential, though.

4. Sir Ravanelli has gone from maiden to Class 1 level easily, with his June 2 win rating very well for that Port Macquarie card. Both wins have come on heavy ground, however.

2. Imatruestar is much better than what he showed at Rosehill and has won a subsequent trial. Will be better suited swopping at Randwick.

Race 2 - 11:35AM Schweppes Handicap Tips (1600m)

Selections: 5,4,2,1.

5. JOURNALISM arrives off a BM64 loss, albeit lost no admirers with 61kg and may just been a little flat off a big fresh win, where he arrived late at Hawkesbury and was giving 5.5kg to the runner-up. Better suited under the BM72 scale, now carrying 5.5kg less third-up and Tim Clark should be able control this up front, whereas a few key threats will get back. Leaning his way off the map.

4. Indifference is a half-brother to Group 1 winner Complacent and like his older sibling, he'll relish 2000m in time, so the mile is no issue. Has sat wide and sustained long runs in both wins this prep, so barrier nine may well be a positive here.

2. Deficit was fair on return behind a dominant Democracy Manifest and the second-up chasing effort suggested a win was around the corner. Still a query over a mile, though.

1. Caesars Palace whacked away fresh and was then caught in the wrong part of the track on June 11. Can improve down in grade third-up.

Race 3 - 12:10PM Midway Handicap Tips (1100m)

Selections: 1,8,3,11.

1. EXCELTIC is one we've caught at decent odds via his last two first-up attempts and the market didn't miss him in the last those, with punters backing in him from $15 to $7.50 and he rounded them up with ease. Three of his four victories have come fresh and while he gets back, he loves to attack the middle and outside lanes with momentum, so the wide alley is a tick. Track pattern is crucial.

8. Conrad has been workmanlike in his two lead-up trials, albeit with solid hit-out's, connections will be aiming for a good fresh run. His ceiling was well beyond this level early, but the four spaced out trials this year concerns me (setbacks).

3. Nikohli Beagle comes to handy early, winning his last three first-up runs (disqualified in the latest). Keeping him to sprint trips is the key and he gets nice relief after the 3kg claim.

11. Moralist is perhaps tested at this level, but he can sprint well fresh and maps to get a lovely run. Worth including at a longer quote ($31.00 @ BetRight).

Race 4 - 12:45PM Precise Air Handicap Tips (1300m)

Selections: 6,2,7,5.

6. PO KARE KARE steps up in grade from a provincial BM64, although she looks well on track for much better races than this and these BM72's are proving a good launching pad of late for these progressive types. After missing the kick fresh and then peaking on an early run, this filly was arrogant at Gosford. She jumped cleanly in that last performance and will relish a strong tempo in this event.

2. Huesca improved on firmer ground second-up to bolt in, although was entitled to given they handed it to him on a platter early and there is more speed drawn to his inside here. Is only third-up and lightly raced, so could improve again.

7. Bartoselli looked a good thing fresh in a weak BM72, but put in a shocker. He was genuine prior to that, so there was clearly an issue and the tongue tie is on (choked down?).

5. Rebel Shadow had the June 11 Midway shot to pieces before twice overreacting to the whip. Big price ($34.00 @ bet365), considering he could've easily won.

Race 5 - 1:20PM Quayclean Handicap Tips (1800m)

Selections: 3,2,9,1.

3. COMME BELLA FILLE has never carried this sort of weight to victory, which is a knock, albeit it's still only 58kg after the claim and given she was only second-up when going back-to-back on June 11, this mare should have as much improvement as any from that event. Her two prior peaks for John O'Shea were both third-up and off successive wins for the first time, she's clearly in great touch.

2. Flexible was a month between runs in that same contest a fortnight back, so strips fitter and her three-year-old form around Duais still warrants plenty of respect at this level. 1800m suits and from gate four, they can be more positive.

9. Anagain drifted alarmingly third-up off a an excellent second-up run and a poor effort forced her to trial again. Is hit or miss, but classy when right and she drops in the weights.

1. Niffler is honest, but had her chance in that June 11 clash and hasn't quite seen out the 1800m in two prior attempts. A false fav here.

Race 6 - 1:55PM Furphy Stayer's Cup Tips (2600m)

Selections: 1,6,3,2.

1. ALAKAHAN was building nicely ahead of the Sydney Cup and with a little freshen-up following that Heavy 10 flop, has taken a little while to hit his straps again. The Winter Cup effort on June 4 indicated he was back on track and while he carries an extra 3.5kg, there's even less depth to this 2600m affair. Completed a 1250m tick-over trial on Tuesday ahead of a very winnable race.

6. Shameless Miss comes out of lower benchmarks, although being a lightly raced type that already has five wins, she has less convictions than most of his rivals. Handles any conditions, plummets in the weights and should be running out 2600m.

3. La Baol has been a little hard to get a gauge on this year, but now finally on a firmer track after numerous heavy attempts, he is one that could jump out of the ground here.

2. Bonny Ezra continues to turn up, having been in the money via his last five runs and handles any surface. The extra 200m is a question.

Race 7 - 2:30PM Acy Securities Handicap Tips (1800m)

Selections: 9,6,1,3.

9. SOLAR APEX is racing consistently and isn't far off win number six. Following a fresh triumph, he stepped from a BM72 to a BM88 and went further up in class on June 4, contesting a BM94. After settling further back than anticipated and finding traffic in the run home, he's still recorded the fastest last 600m of the card (34.32), finishing near to Skyman, who bolted in last Saturday.

6. Francesco Guardi received a 10/10 from J-Mac to defeat Palladas second-up, which is very questionable form, although he is progressive and now goes to 1800m with a trial in-between. Is suited away from the heavy tracks.

1. Bethencourt is more effective on testing ground, but he adapted well last start, where the winner found the fast lane. Prefer him at a mile, but he has placed over this trip.

3. Mirann was completely unsuited in a muddling affair on June 4 and gets the blinkers back on. Going okay prior to that and could be a bolter ($34.00 @ Palmerbet).

Race 8 - 3:05PM Chandon Civic Stakes Tips (1400m)

Selections: 10,5,1,12.

10. GROVE FERRY is a galloper that the Waterhouse & Bott yard clearly have an opinion of, with the import heavily backed ahead of his Australian debut in Nov, where he didn't handle a heavy track. Was better in three subsequent runs and like most imports, improvement is expected now in his second Australian campaign. It's a tricky listed event and the late betting could tell the story.

5. Dawn Passage was beaten as a Stradbroke fav in 2020 and would've won the Golden Eagle that year if it wasn't a Heavy 9. Gelded ahead of this prep and although plain last start, he has no second-up form. We'll get a better gauge here.

1. Tamahere makes her Australian debut for Annabel Neasham and while all of her form is over a little further, she worked nicely in a June 10 trial. Questionable map, but respecting.

12. Mariamia won second-up and then covered ground in the Group 2 Dane Ripper at Eagle Farm. 1400m a query, but she'll get a soft run.

Race 9 - 3:45PM Petaluma Handicap Tips (1100m)

Selections: 1,6,12,15.

1. MAMARAGAN isn't a punters pal, although if you put aside the poor winning strike rate, then this is very good placement, now back to a BM78. A debut winner before placing in a Golden Slipper and Sires' Produce (2020), he's was solid last start behind Dragonstone and his form this prep ties in with Passive Aggressive, Athelric and Andermatt, which are superb references for this.

6. Conscript faces his toughest challenge to date, with this four-year-old having worked through the lower grades last prep and Tim Clark is a positive booking first-up. Both trials indicate he's ready to fire fresh and he'll cross early from out wide.

12. Miss Dior was runner-up in a BM78 first-up last prep on a heavy track and is more effective on firmer ground. She couldn't have been more impressive in her trial win on May 16.

15. I Call Junee Home went from a country BM66 to a BM72 romp at Canterbury and carries 3kg less for a rise in grade. Deserves her shot.

Race 10 - 4:25PM Elite Sand & Soil Handicap Tips (1400m)

Selections: 8,1,4,6.

8. SINBA won two in a row, including a 1550m on the Kenso circuit, which defied an on-speed bias for that Feb 16 card. While well beaten when thrown in the deep end via the Randwick and Rosehill Guineas, he'd have been much more competitive if they weren't heavy tracks and he bounced back first-up in style. More depth here and carries another 5kg, but he's very progressive.

1. Kingsheir wasn't fit, but class got him home on return and he has a lot of improvement to come. Being such a big and hulking type, he should be able to carry the extra 2.5kg and we'll know come the last if the wide gate is a negative or not.

4. Jojo Was A Man landed the cash for us third-up, a race he had won a long way out and he does have a fitness edge on the above two. They haven't got to the bottom of him yet.

6. Pandano found the 1000m too sharp fresh, although it was a definite pass mark and he's much better suited over seven furlongs now.
