Randwick is the home of Sydney racing and hosts meetings all-year round with feature programs coming throughout the famous Sydney Autumn Carnival which includes The Championships as well as group one's and major meetings in the spring.

Randwick Tips October 23

Race 1 - 12:30pm World Gym Castlereagh Kirkham Plate Tips (1000m)

Selections: 1,8,5,11.

1. CONTEMPORARY has the race experience and a short SP from the Spring Preview, where he was a little green up the Flemington straight, albeit only narrowly defeated into second and the subsequent Warwick Farm trial was good to the eye. From a low draw under Kerrin McEvoy, he ticks the most boxes for now.

8. Belriah improved off a plain first public showing to also win a 740m heat on October 15, running faster time than Contemporary for that morning, showing a good turn-of-foot in the process. She's each-way odds ($11.00 @ TAB).

5. Secret Revolution worked via the Randwick set on October 8 and wasn't knocked about after easing his way to the front, travelling under his own steam throughout. Tommy Berry sticks from that.

11. Queen Of The Ball was a little workmanlike behind Secret Revolution, albeit she stuck to the task well in that same hit out. Looked professional enough, but does have a wide draw to overcome.

Race 2 - 1:05PM Tab Highway Handicap Tips (1800m)

Selections: 2,7,3,1.

2. KITZUBEL recorded back-to-back wins in his first Australian prep, carrying big weights on each occasion, albeit both of those were on wet tracks. This import lacks a turn-of-foot, which was evident fresh in a provincial BM64, but stuck on at 1500m and the 1800m now is a tick. Will roll forward and a Highway should be well within his reach.

7. Foodie King sparked into action two back at Orange and in the October 9 Highway, would've finished much closer from a better draw in a luckless effort, and now has gate five. He was 30/1 on that occasion though.

3. Whatsin had been racing consistently prior to a freshen-up and blew her chances a fortnight ago when bombing the start. Hasn't won past 1400m, although hasn't had many attempts to gauge that more.

1. This Is So was a multiple city winner when campaigning for Anthony Cummings and has been thereabouts in country features this campaign. In a Class 3 with a claim, he's over the odds ($26.00 @ Sportsbet).

Race 3 - 1:40PM Daily Press Brian Crowley Stakes Tips (1200m)

Selections: 5,7,6,2.

5. ABLE WILLIE will be much more furnished galloper in the autumn, but isn't facing a field of world beaters here and there was a touch of arrogance about the debut win on Kenso circuit, racing keenly early, yet circled his rivals and put them away in very soft fashion. Nash Rawiller was swinging off this three-year-old in a subsequent trial at Randwick.

7. Zarastro made some late inroads behind the smart Paulele on debut before being tipped out and both trials leading into this spring return have been terrific. He looked the clear threat to the fav, yet an each-way price is there ($8.00 @ Neds).

6. Battleton is unbeaten from two outings and looked very professional in knuckling down to chase on each occasion, while the 1200m will suit. This is harder, but this colt is fit and in-form.

2. Mazu has the best exposed form and should find this much easier, albeit he has been a little plain this prep. Has been freshened-up and the October 8 trial in a strong heat was okay.

Race 4 - 2:15PM Midway Handicap Tips (1200m)

Selections: 5,3,12,11.

5. SAQUON was ridden cold from a wide draw following a fresh flop and looking for gaps in the straight, was on heels for the last 150m and should've finished much closer. Is drawn out again, but there's not a stack a speed to his inside and Parr should be looking to put the foot down early at 1200m. With a positive steer, he can give a big sight.

3. Air To Air has a horrible racing pattern, but is clearly the class runner, a mare that has placed and been thereabouts at group level. Was strong late in a recent trial and with even luck, could easily put this lot away.

12. Pandora Blue bounced back second-up and was handed that on a platter early, although still bolted in. Down in the weights and lightly raced, she less convictions than many of these.

3. Favra is an honest galloper on the provincial circuit and is better suited under the Midway BM72 weight scale, now carrying just 55.5kg. He's one for the exotics at a longer price ($20.00 @ Sportsbet).

Race 5 - 2:50PM Robrick Lodge Filante Handicap Tips (1400m)

Selections: 4,1,2,6.

4. CRIADERAS faces just about a make-or-break prep now, returning as still a very lightly raced Godolphin gelding that has genuine Group 1 ability, and short starting prices in some handy events to prove it, but has done himself no favours by the starts he's been conceding his opposition. If within striking range, he could blow this field away.

1. Emerald Kingdom doesn't have the brilliance of Criaderas, although has a better racing pattern and was just outclassed fresh behind the handy Apache Chase. Great second-up record, albeit the 60.5kg is a decent leveller.

2. Quackerjack looked gone last spring, but the 2019 Villiers winner improved in a short summer prep, going close to Bandersnatch who won two stakes' races in winter. Loves Randwick and has had three lead-up trials.

6. Yamazaki is a group class mare that was okay on return despite a wide run and is better suited to 1400m despite a poor Randwick record. She'll need luck in transit from gate three.

Criaderas - $4.00Randwick Race Fivebet now
18+ only. T&Cs apply. Stay in Control. Gamble Responsibly. Think! About your choices. Call Gambling Help on 1800 858 858 or visit www.gamblinghelponline.org.au.

Race 6 - 3:25PM Geyer Handicap Tips (1600m)

Selections: 2,9,6,11.

2. SNOWFIRE has a 4.5kg weight swing from his last start clash with Shibli, where he wasn't suited getting back in a small field at Rosehill with 60kg, although still got home okay and with no second-up form, could spike here. Capable of pushing forward from out wide and in an open race, he's at least an each-way chance with even luck.

9. Ma And Pa is superbly bred, a son of Redoute's Choice that is of a VRC Oaks winner, Dear Demi. Has completed a winning hat-trick to start the prep and although this is harder, he'll likely roll forward again from the wide gate.

6. Shibli is no world beater, but is another in-form and fit Waller runner, while from gate five, this gelding should be able to get the right run in transit under Tommy Berry. This is another winnable race.

11. Five Kingdom is ticking over okay and is another with no second-up form (was $8 a BM88 last start), so is overs here ($26.00 @ Unibet) down in grade. Would've preferred him drawn out a little more, however.

Snowfire - $11.00Randwick Race Sixbet now

Race 7 - 4:10PM Clubsnsw City Tattersalls Club Cup Tips (2400m)

Selections: 2,3,6,5

2. CEPHEUS may well be best horse in the race and although has a wide barrier to overcome, he was terrific on his Australian debut at Kembla when running a slick last 600m behind Frosty Rocks. Poor in two subsequent efforts, he was much more competitve last start when the blinkers went on and has won a recent tick-over trial ahead of this.

3. Zeyrek has been thereabouts all prep, but has just lacked that killer punch at the business end of proceedings. Did have his chance in Metrop, although this is clearly much easier and probably the most winnable event he's faced.

6. Achiever is building well I feel, a Waller-trained gelding that gave a big sight in the Port Macquarie Cup when only reeled in late and did win at this stage of his autumn prep, so could well be peaking here.

5. Skymax has gone terribly in two runs this campaign, but Mark Newnham runners can improve off flat efforts early in preps and he looked a promising stayer last summer.

Race 8 - 4:45PM Bondi Stakes Tips (1600m)

Selections: 6,7,1,3.

6. ARNAQUER should've gone close in the Dulcify (held-up from the 400m to the 300m) when launching late, recording easily the fastest last 600m of the race and had the Spring Champion Stakes as the target, a feature he was caught wide in, so there were excuses. Off a little freshen-up and recent trial, he's the value here off his run two starts back.

7. Dufrense is another at a double figure quote ($11.00 @ TopSport) with claims, especially if the on-pace runners are favoured. This gelding is improving with racing and crossing from out wide under Josh Parr, could be the one in this field with petrol still in the tank.

1. Hilal looked a Group 1 contender ahead of the spring, which he started terribly, but bounced back in the Stan Fox and did gave excuses when wide in the Golden Rose. Has been mixing form, but is the class runner of the race.

3. Royalzel got blown off the park in that Golden Rose, albeit has always looked a rung or two below that level and finds a much more suitable affair here. Respect any moves off a little gap between outings.

Arnaqueur - $16.00Randwick Race Eightbet now
18+ only. T&Cs apply. Stay in Control. Gamble Responsibly. Think! About your choices. Call Gambling Help on 1800 858 858 or visit www.gamblinghelponline.org.au.

Race 9 - 5:35PM The Invitation Tips (1400m)

Selections: 6,11,2,10.

6. ENTRIVIERE proved much too strong in the Sheraco Stakes and was completely unsuited following that in the Gold Pendant when wide and at the rear, but was excellent without luck (also in season). An NZ mare that wouldn't have looked out of place in The Everest, she's clearly the one to beat with even luck from a sticky draw.

11. Tricky Gal was excellent on return without luck as the only runner to break 33 seconds in The Nivision and has recorded the fastest last 200m of the whole Randwick meeting. She draws for a much kinder run here and is a fair price ($12.00 @ Ladbrokes).

2. Nudge notched up the third fastest last 200m of the entire October 9 Caulfield card when coming from the rear, while getting to the 1400m now can be only seen as a positive. This mare will get back though.

10. Icebath would be promoted to at least second in the selections on a wet track, although is still racing well and she was completely luckless in The Epsom. Gate 15 does her no favours.

Race 10 - 6:10PM Southern Cross Group Handicap Tips (1200m)

Selections: 9,6,11,12.

9. GRAVINA is one of the more obvious selections on the meeting and likely to start a short favourite should the inside lanes hold up, which looks more favourable now with the good forecast. It was a superb second-up effort behind Big Parade, who franked the form last week and from gate one, can settle closer this Saturday under Kerrin McEvoy.

6. Belluci Babe arrives off a solid third at group level, albeit that was against her own sex and there's perhaps a question mark on her fresh win given On The Lead couldn't win a BM78 last week. Still looks the main the threat to the fav, however.

11. Quantico was in the need of the run at Gosford and staying in a midweek BM78, got every favour when defeating a handy April Rain. Plummets in the weights here, but is drawn out, so is likely to spot them more of a start.

12. Faschannel placed behind April Rain, Harmony Rose and co earlier in the year. Responded to riding when winning a second spring trial and with a great fresh record, could be one for the exotics at a big price ($27.00 @ Sportsbet).
