Race 5 No. 3 Pony Soprano
He landed big bets when bolting in at Coffs Harbour on debut and a touch of greenness was the difference when stepping up to Class 1 level over this track/trip at start two.
Pony Soprano rounded out his first campaign with a brave fifth-of-fourteen at Taree, where the gelding stuck on well considering that he covered ground on a testing surface.
Now in his second prep, there's still upside with this local three-year-old and he wasn't knocked about late via a January 7 trial when beaten by a useful Lensman.
Port Macquarie often favours on-speed gallopers and with Pony Soprano likely to make his own luck on the speed under Ashley Morgan, he's the one to catch in a thin race.
Value Bet:
Race 7 No. 2 Veandechance
The Ben Looker engagement has to be respected with Veandechance, who is on stable debut for Colt Prosser and she was spelled after a second-up failure in October.
She appeared to struggle on a Heavy 10 track in her last performance for Matthew Dunn and the mare was a well backed fav there after getting home late on return at Ipswich.
Her fifth-of-ten on September 19 was the only time that she's finished out of the money fresh, with a win and two thirds recorded from her four prior first-up tilts.
Veandechance didn't go on with it after showing plenty of promise early, however, she was still thereabouts in fair company last season and the January 7 trial was encouraging.

Race 4 No. 16 Artelimar
There's been a push for the fourth emergency, with Artelimar into a $10 quote with Unibet Australia after opening at $13.
The gelding did improve second-up on January 14 following a return flop and he'll land on the speed under Courtney Ferris, who takes 4kg off with her claim.
Stats Say:
Glen Milligan is leading the way at Port Macquarie this season, with the Taree trainer having prepared five winners here at a healthy strike-rate of 23.81%.
He has accepted with five runners on Friday's card and three of them are single figure odds in the early markets.
