Race 6 No. 2 Infuriated

The lightly raced five-year-old improved off an unlucky debut when placing at Pinjarra via his second start (arguably should've won) and he then landed big bets at Belmont.

There were excuses via his metro flop before a spell, where an elevated heart rate was detected and he's back on track going off two promising runs to open this prep.

After finding the line well fresh in a fast-run Bunbury event, Infuriated was back/held-up when remaining at seven furlongs second-up and he was hard to miss late there.

While he was defeated as fav, the gelding couldn't have done anymore at Ascot, where he ran the fastest last 200m of the January 8 card and getting to 1600m is ideal now.

Race 3 No. 8 Ahrea

After being well held in two outings over her first campaign, Ahrea improved out of sight last prep, with four competitive showings earlier this season before a spell.

She proved that the eye-catching fresh run at big odds was no fluke when recording a runner-up finish behind Please Mizter and that winner took out a Class 2 at his next start.

While she remained competitive in two 1600m+ tilts, keeping the four-year-old to shorter distances could be key for now (was more brilliant in two 1400m showings).

The Ryan Hill-trained galloper moved well in a quiet Lark Hill trial on January 13 and with some decent form from the spring, Ahrea is a good each-way chance here.

Race 1 No. 4 Something Royal

Something Royal has been well beaten in all three appearances, which includes a January 1 return at Ascot, however, this is a big drop in grade to a provincial maiden and the market has reacted.

After opening at $15 with Ladbrokes, she's now on the third line of betting at $6.50.

From eight starters on the Pinjarra Scarpside this season, Grant Alana & Williams-trained horses have only been out of the money twice (three wins and three placings).

Infuriated is their only representative on Thursday's meeting and he heads the market for Race 6.
