Pakenham Best Bet - Race 1 No. 5 Our John Boy
It is an ugly price to take, but with a booster, we should be able to hit even money across one of the bookies.
This gelding will only shorten after being backed off the map last start at Kilmore, where he charged late and only just missed on a track that has a very short straight.
Coming to Pakenham looks perfect with the long straight that will allow him to wind up and really hit the line. as well as getting out to the 1200m which looks ideal.
Our John Boy is very short in the market, but there is a motor there that should see him take this out.

Pakenham Value Bet - Race 5 No. 11 Comica
I thought this filly would just about be favourite off the back of an impressive win over Bubbly Lass who has subsequently won a strong race.
She is four weeks between runs, so is being kept fresh for this race, and although the wide gate does not play into her hands, I do feel she has a turn of foot if ridden quietly based off how nice that first-up win was.
I like Comica staying on the big flat of Pakenham where she has the long straight to let down and show her class rather than have to crab around tight bends.
If she can perform up to her first-up win with the race fitness, she will prove hard to beat.

Pakenham Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Kurabui
The sister of Suprise Baby makes her return to the track after an unbeaten summer campaign in two starts.
She was too good first-up when winning in dominant fashion over this track and trip, so we know the the in-experienced four-year-old will have seen these race day conditions before.
Kurabui has trialled up okay, where she was three lengths from the winner at Echuca under very little riding, but did enough over the short 900m journey.
If she can return in the same fashion that she left with in the summer, the sky is the limit for this valuable mare.
