Pakenham Value Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Final Man
Was tossing up whether to make this horse the value of the night or November Dreaming as the best of the night, but the one tick that is heavily in Final Man's favour is the wet track which he thrives on.
With consistent rain from Thursday afternoon, I am expecting the track to be borderline heavy which will suit this bloke as he is unbeaten in those conditions and is two from three on soft ground.
Final Man gave November Dreaming a solid towelling this time last year in heavy conditions and with a similar forecast expected, I will be sticking with the same formula.
The four-year-old gets the blinkers on first time and although has not found his best form for a while, he also has not seen these wet conditions since his last win.

Pakenham Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 11 Meltdown
This filly has proven to enjoy the soft going with a win and two placings next to her name from four starts.
Last start she finished second on a Soft 7 at this track and trip, but did beat subsequent winner Be Miss Luchy, so the form is strong enough.
There are a couple of talented types towards the top of the page in this race which is why we are getting a generous price, but Galactus is unproven in the wet and Tooradin may need more ground (although is the best horse in the race).
If Meltdown can find herself a little closer to the speed than last start, she may not have the big turn of foot, but is fit and will grind it out to the finish.

Pakenham Best Bet - Race 8 No. 3 Groovy Kinda Love
This mare has found her best again, kicking off the campaign with a game second before putting together back-to-back victories.
She has form in wet conditions, last start winning on a soft seven and placing on a heavy eight this time last year, so I am confident that she will get through the going.
Last start she beat subsequent winner Angel Rock which now looks good form, and prior to that was a five length winner, so she is clearly marching on through the grades at the moment.
Damian Lane sticks with Groovy Kinda Love and although I am expecting to get a better price on the night, she still looks the best bet of the card.
