Oakbank Best Bet - Race 1 No. 1 A Touch Frosty
Callan Murray’s mount has registered some good efforts this time around, including when placing second twice.
The first of those second-place finishes saw the gelding lose out by less than one-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a 1600m Benchmark 58 at Strathalbyn at the start of last month.
The four-year-old appeared to appreciate the step up in distance for his most recent runner-up finish when tackling 2000m for the first time in a Class 1 set weights contest at Murray Bridge.
A Touch Frosty raced close to the speed on that occasion, having been ridden from off the pace when fourth in an 1800m metro contest at Morphettville on November 25.
The gelding looks unlikely to have any issues with the extra 150m he tackles and with the soft 5 going no issue, he can provide trainer Peter Hardacre with a winner in the opening race of the day.

Oakbank Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 5 Leader’s Pride
The gelding has placed in three of his four starts since delivering a half-length victory in a 2100m Restricted 56 handicap at Gawler last month.
Leader's Pride raced on a Good 4 surface that day and came close to delivering a metro race success when losing out by a length in a 2025m Class 2 handicap at Morphettville a week ago.
The five-year-old raced on a Soft 5 track on that occasion and is expected to encounter similar underfoot conditions, with regular pilot Emily Finnegan booked to ride here.
He shouldn’t have too many issues with the shorter distance here, while the switch to a Restricted 56 handicap and racing at provincial level are both positives.
Handler Justin Pickering boasts an impressive 60% strike-rate this month, having won with three of his five runners and his representative looks capable of helping him improve on that.

Oakbank Roughie - Race 5 No. 2 Elsa’s Pride
Jessica Eaton’s mount has been below par in three starts this time around, including when eighth of ten when contesting a Restricted 56 handicap at Balaklava earlier this month.
The daughter of Outreach faded having raced from the front that day. but notably all three of her efforts this spell have come on a sound surface.
The mare has shown a liking for soft going in the past including when beaten just over a length when third on a Soft 7 track at Morphettville Parks in June.
Elsa's Pride raced over 1000m on that occasion, but the extra 50m she tackles here is no issue, having recorded a victory over this trip at Morphettville in 2022.
Barrier ten isn’t ideal here, however, she's now hard-fit and the drop in grade helps.

Oakbank Value Bet - Race 7 No. 8 Chosen Miss
While unable to score on going described as soft, the mare has placed second in three of her four starts on ground described as soft.
Chosen Miss has been out of form in three starts so far this season, with the 1050m distance likely to blame for her heavy defeat when racing at Morphettville first-up early last month.
Two big losses followed, with Chosen Miss losing her place in a crucial part of the race when beaten over eight lengths in a Benchmark 58 at Murray Bridge December 10.
Notably, the daughter of Choisir ran well on her only previous start at this venue, with that effort coming in a Benchmark 54 handicap over this course and distance in April.
She raced on a Soft 5 track that day and with an inside alley, a return to this venue suits, as Oakbank is often a horse for course circuit.
