Northam Roughie - Race 3 No. 11 Mexican Queen
Given the lack of quality in the field, there's a default fav with Petrouchka and while she has a lot fewer convictions than the rest of the raced brigade, she's prohibitively short off just a fair debut.
Mexican Queen is one of four first starters in the lineup and she's been given solid grounding for her first start, with four winter trials and she has come on nicely in her last two.
While she'll eventually get over more ground, which her breeding supports, 1300m is a decent starting point and with weight off her older rivals, she's among the each-way hopes.

Northam Value Bet - Race 4 No. 5 The Candy Kid
Another first starter from the Adam Durrant yard that'll get over further in time is The Candy Kid and like Mexican Queen, this three-year-old had completed four winter trials.
Although Trio (fav) had a better turn-of-foot over 950m, the market elect was ridden out to find the line late in an August 21 heat, whereas The Candy Kid wasn't knocked about in third.
Off that recent trial alone he seems a big price here vs the fav, however, the big son of Sessions had also shown enough in prior workouts to suggest he could be competitive on debut.

While he did appear one-paced when fifth via his last trial on August 21, Axeman's Jazz was never going dash home over 950m vs out-and-out sprinters that filled the slots ahead of him.
1400m fresh is ideal for the son of Dundeel, who was spelled after a 1300m debut win here last spring and he was tipped out before the Derby in autumn despite contesting the lead-ups.
He was only a length off Another Chino (Derby runner-up) at Listed level over 1800m and as a four-year-old with a low rating, this gelding can just work through the grades for now.

Fai Womens World Hot Air Ballooning Tips (Race 7)
Northam Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Beauty In Me
After what was just a fair trial to blow the cobwebs off in July, this mare settled nicely without the blinkers on and found the line under William Pike via a Lark Hill heat on August 7.
The Wizard staying aboard following that hit-out is an obvious plus, while Pike did partner Beauty In Me early in her career, which includes a maiden victory at start three here.
Without winning, the five-year-old was still competitive via three runs over the summer and resuming on a circuit where she's unbeaten, this is savvy placement from trainer Jason Miller.
