This gelding landed the cash for us at big odds when saluting at Hawkesbury last winter and after an unlucky return effort on December 21, he was outclassed second-up at Wyong.

That metro BM72 has produced a smart one (Point And Shoot) and with better placement third-up on February 12, Pluckten was far more competitive when contesting a BM64.

Zarizatycoon franked that form with a big Country Qualifier victory last Friday and now fit, Pluckten looks to have his right race, with rain around a plus (biggest win was on a Heavy 8).

Newcastle Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Amenable

Fresh has been the time to catch Amenable, with both victories coming first-up and with a solid hit-out completed via his latest Rosehill trial, the gelding looks ready to fire on return.

He almost pinched a Group 1 All Aged Stakes when last racing on a heavy track and the son of Lonhro followed that performance up with an unlucky third over last year's Scone Carnival.

He's got a 5kg weight swing on Coastwatch from that Luskin Star Stakes, an event that's produced Jimmysstar (Group 1 winner) and this looks a winnable race for Amenable.

Nzb Samantha Miss F&M BM68 Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Newcastle Best Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Titanium Miss

Don't be surprised if the middle/wider lanes are favoured late on Friday's Newcastle meeting, especially if the rain comes and Titanium Miss has drawn out for this second-up attempt.

She was respected in the market for her first-up showing in a metro BM72, where she was set a big task at Rosehill and the filly did make some late inroads without threatening.

Titanium Miss finds a weaker assignment here and both wins have come on soft ground, which includes a Newcastle victory last prep before three competitive runs in decent company.
