Best:
Race 7 No. 2 Merchant Empire
The obvious query is a near 12-month layoff since saluting on debut at Wyong, however, his lead-up work has been encouraging and this looks a weak race.
Merchant Empire led throughout when taking out a 1200m maiden on debut and Edited By finished second in that event, with that galloper now a five-time winner.
Iconic Treasure (third) has also proven to be a useful performer, with three subsequent victories and he rounded out his spring with a competitive metro showing.
Jockey Zac Lloyd sticks from the most recent Rosehill trials and from barrier nine in a big field, he'll have time to cross and settle handy aboard the four-year-old.
Value:
Race 2 No. 1 Akaka Falls
He has a very good fresh record, with three wins and four placings from eight return tilts, and the only time being out of the money first-up was fifth at metro level.
That Randwick-Kensington effort had merit (made ground out wide in a leader dominated race) and he saluted first-up over the Newcastle 900m in March, 2024.
Akaka Falls had to settle for second via his latest fresh attempt in September, which was also over this track/trip and the form around Reigning King (winner) has stood up well.
Reigning King arrived to that race off a BM64 win over Fire Star (won four city races in a row later that prep), while he bolted in with a BM68 before moving south.
Market Mover:
Race 4 No. 15 Luvalegend
The first emergency has gained a start and despite showing little in two appearances last winter, he's been specked at long odds ($71-$34) with EliteBet for this fresh assigment.
This John Sargent-trained galloper is well bred, being by Lonhro and out of a four-time Group winner in Luvaluva (also prepared by John Sargent).
Stats Say:
Local trainer Nathan Doyle is leading the way at his home track this season, with 11 winners prepared at an impressive strike-rate of 30.56%.
He's accepted with two runners on Tuesday's program (both in Race 7).
