PRECISE AIR HANDICAP Tips (Race 2)
Newcastle Value Bet - Race 2 No. 3 The Guru
Barring an ordinary second-up effort when slow away and well back in Saturday BM72, this gelding has been ticking over okay in three winter performances and back on a firmer surface this Wednesday, is better suited up to the 1850m.
While he's still been honest, The Guru has been competing on heavy tracks via his last four outings, a surface he doesn't exactly thrive on and off a fair closing effort at Goulburn, the Soft 5/Good 4 here on this big circuit should be much more suitable.
With placings behind Stockman (dual Stakes winner), Toscanini and a win over subsequent Group One winner Duais last year, this five-year-old is no slouch and ideally from a soft run in transit from a good draw, he's capable of figuring in a race of this strength.

Newcastle Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 8 Majella
Coming out of a good form race is this mare from the Matthew Smith yard who found the line well over the 1300m at Randwick-Kensington on July 21, finishing just off Invinciano, a mare that bolted in via her next start before BM78 placing last Saturday.
In the process, Majella beat home and clearly outperformed the likes of Off Shaw (can tie his prior form in with Matowatakpe) and Hot Spring Gold, a galloper that sat of a slick speed and recorded a big win in the opener at Randwick on August 7.
The knock is that she still may be a run short, however, she's coming out of a stronger race than what she finds here, is better suited to 1500m, while off her spring/summer performances in a few deeper events, this just looks very winnable for the seven-year-old.
SKY RACING HANDICAP Tips (Race 4)
Newcastle Value Bet - Race 4 No. 8 Cat D'oro
By Medaglia D'oro and out of the popular grey mare Catkins is Cat Do'oro, a galloper from the Chris Waller yard and following teasing performances over two campaigns, the decision was made to geld this now four-year-old.
Defeated in stirring battle with Tiny at start two where they put five lengths on third, he was sent out as a $1.55 favourite via his third outing as a result when narrowly defeated by Black Duke, a galloper with handy subsequent form lines at city and Stakes level.
In a fast run Maiden, the July 7 return was okay despite finding the 1150m a little short and although he is a Maiden runner competing in a 64, he should've gone close last start at Wyong when held-up late and the 1500m on a big track could well be the right recipe here.
