SCONE EQUINE HOSPITAL BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP Tips (Race 4)
Muswellbrook Value Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Patagonian
While this gelding doesn't necessarily win out of turn, he's rarely far away and hard fit with a drop back to Country level on Sunday, he looks a strong each-way chance here.
A regular competitor on the Provincial circuit in Benchmark 64 to 68 level, Patagonian does rise in the weights but over the five furlongs that's much less relevant and he's been in the finish with similar imposts at a higher level.
The son of Dream Ahead hasn't finished outside the top two in three Heavy track attempts which includes two victories and as the only runner coming down in grade for this event, this gelding should be in the finish.
SNOWDEN RACING CLASS 1 HANDICAP Tips (Race 5)
Muswellbrook Best Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Big Happiness
Despite having to jump from Maiden company for this second-up tilt, with good form lines around Minniti (Provincial placed on Thursday/runner-up in a strong Maiden on debut) this Class 1 doesn't look much harder.
Big Happiness put a near three length space on that filly in his return victory over this track/trip on May 23 and that 1000m race stacked up well for that program, comfortably bettering the times of the Benchmark 58 and Class 1 later in the card.
Entered in some handy event over his first few campaigns, trainer Kristen Buchanan obviously has a good opinion of this three-year-old who looks very well placed to win again in what is quite a weak race.
HUNTER THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS ASSOC. CLASS 2 HANDICAP Tips (Race 7)
Muswellbrook Roughie - Race 7 No. 5 Forbidden Palace
The favourite Confessed stands out as the most progressive galloper in this field going forward, however, second-up at start five on a testing surface, there's some question marks with her on Sunday over the 1450m.
A locally trained galloper who has recorded both career wins here at Muswellbrook, I'm a little surprised with the opening price of Forbidden Palace who is ticking over fairly and looks to be crying out for this extra distance.
The experienced Robert Thompson takes back the reins for this fourth-up assignment, a jockey that was aboard for this gelding's back-to-back victories last spring, the last of those coming over the 1450m on a soft track.
