A lightly raced seven-year-old from the Lindsey Smith stable, Rudhyar was off the scene for 18 months before returning in April and his first few efforts for this prep were encouraging,

He was then too bad to be true in the Warrnambool Cup and was spelled as a result of that third-up failure, however, the gelding appears back on track going off his last two runs.

Rudhyar had a lot more to offer in the straight when held-up at Geelong before stepping up in grade at Sandown and in a swoopers race, there was merit to that last showing.

This local can improve second-up on firmer ground, with Alainge a notable drifter on return at Morphettville and she struggled on a Heavy 9 surface in that attempt.

While she was raw, the Stuart Padman-trained galloper showed ability in her first campaign, with back-to-back victories recorded at starts two and three before being tipped out.

She completed only a short autumn prep this year, where after covering ground when in the market via a similar affair to this, Alainge was set a big task on the Morphettville Parks circuit.

With three wins and five placings, the grey has been very consistent and his fifth-of-fourteen in a BM82 last year (as a short fav) was his only time finishing outside of the top four.

Although he placed, I'm not sure he ran out a strong 1550m last campaign and that followed a 1200m return at Morphettville, where he was a stride off winning as a $3 chance.

Early in a campaign has always been the time to catch Alpine Flyer, with all six of her victories being recorded first or second-up and two of her last three wins have been fresh.

Among those return wins was an Oakbank triumph last prep, where she was heavily supported and the mare arrives here off a decent jump-out behind a smart Chicago Storm.

This isn't a strong BM74, where she's well in at the weights after both the mares allowance and 2kg claim from in-form apprentice Rochelle Milnes (six wins from her last 15 rides).

Her record suggests that it's a negative, however, she's still been competitive multiple times over these shorter sprints and coming back in trip off a tough run is a logical move.

Lady Simone covered ground and failed to let down on a Soft 7 surface at Mildura last start, although she still stuck on for third and that followed an unlucky second-up attempt.

At 0-62 level, this is technically the weakest race that she's seen all prep and gate nine suits over this trip, as Lady Simone can camp behind the leaders and have galloping room late.
