Murray Bridge Value Bet - Race 2 No. 14 Madam Milly

The daughter of Warhorse failed to shine when contesting her sole barrier trial at Gawler at the end of February.

The three-year-old was beaten over twelve lengths in a 1000m contest that day, but she demonstrated marked improvement when debuting with a second at Balaklava March 6.

Madam Milly tracked the speed before defying odds of $101 to be beaten just three lengths in a 1050m contest held on a Good 4 track.

The form of that contest is working out well enough with the third winning since, while the sixth has placed second on her only subsequent start.

The filly wasn't disgraced in a metro BM64 last start and she's now well placed back to provincial maiden, where the rise in trip is another tick.

Murray Bridge Best Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Persian Empire

The New Zealand-bred is a regular at this venue, with four of his eight starts this prep coming here.

Those outings include three two wins, with the first of those successes coming by a narrow margin in a Restricted 56 handicap in January.

Persian Empire raced on a Soft 6 surface that day, but has no issues with the quicker going forecast for this contest, as evidenced by his win over 1750m on a Good 3 the start prior.

The veteran performer registered his third win this prep when coming home over a length clear of his rivals in Leg 1 of the National Apprentice Race Series.

Gary Boyce’s gelding delivered a metro-level success when successful at $18 via a 1800m contest at Morphettville last spring.

He has delivered some creditable efforts in defeat since, including when beaten less than one-and-a-half-lengths when third over 1600m at Strathalbyn.

Punchin had been freshened prior to that effort and while the form of that contest could be working out better, the gelding showed up well at Morphettville subsequently.

The four-year-old attempted to make all the running over 1800m in a Restricted 64 handicap at Morphettville and the return to provincial racing is a positive.

Regular pilot Kayla Crowther, on board for each of his last eight starts is again set to ride and her mount has forecast underfoot conditions to suit.

Murray Bridge Roughie - Race 7 No. 15 Obelos

Trainer Garret Lynch does well at this venue, with the handler boasting an 18% strike-rate (6/33) at Murray Bridge over the3 last 12 months.

Obelos gets in off a low weight here, having returned to action with a fourth in a trophy contest held over this distance at Streaky Bay last month.

The veteran performer was beaten just under four-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a seven-runner event on a Good 4 track that day and improvement is expected here.

While the nine-year-old has failed to win in four previous starts at this track, he has acquitted himself well on a number of occasions, including when fifth last June.

He has won or placed in the top three in five of his eight second-up starts and with the trip to suit, he may prove up to springing a surprise.
