Morphettville Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Flamin' Romans

A full brother and stablemate to Group 1 winner Smokin' Romans, Flamin' Romans is well placed crossing the border for a very winnable fourth-up assignment.

He's still lightly raced for a five-year-old and the gelding is often produced on the fresh side, so arriving to this 1950m attempt four weeks between runs is no knock.

Flamin' Romans has been consistent over seven appearances, having saluted two starts back before sustaining a wide run at The Valley and he maps kinder this Saturday.

We were with this well-bred volt fresh off a nice jump-out and despite drifting in the market late, the three-year-old got the breakthrough via that August 17 tilt.

The runner-up franked the form last Saturday and while he'll be better suited over more ground in time, Goldrush Guru will take confidence from that fighting return effort.

There's also better races him than this, but Andrew Gluyas is just taking the youngster through the grades while he learns the caper and he can go on with it here.

After improving at the back-end of her first campaign, which culminated in a Strathalbyn maiden triumph, Jazz Affair made the step to metro level last time in.

A lightly raced mare from the Richard & Chantelle Jolly yard, the daughter of Demerit was an eye-catcher first-up in March before recording back-to-back wins.

Her last return was over five furlongs, with the positive for this first-up contest being that she resumes over 1250m and she's one of the few here with genuine upside.

The market was always going to find He's Beset, a Victorian visitor who bounced back to winning form last start and he does look well placed crossing the border.

At an odds-on quote, the fav is well and truly short enough, while at around an each-way quote is Tapinforpar, who put the writing on the wall second-up.

The son of Spieth recorded the fastest closing splits of a 1200m BM82 last Saturday and now stepping up to his pet distance of 1400m, he looks close to a peak performance.

He's been unlucky either side of a maiden breakthrough at start two and going off his first prep appearances, out to seven furlongs is well worth a try at this stage.

I Catchem Fox was hard to miss late via his latest attempt in a Horsham BM64 and for the same benchmark in Adelaide, that form should hold up for this event.

The penny hasn't fully dropped with the four-year-old and while this trip away will hold him in good stead for subsequent campaigns, he's got the talent to take this out.
