Spring Racing Carnival at Morphettville - Oct. 9 - Nov 6 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Morphettville Best Bet - Race 5 No. 5 Motell
This gelding produced a good first-up performance and after an excellent second-up outing, he again found the line strongly on July 17 via the Parks circuit when stepping to the 1550m, resulting in him running as a Value Bet for us on July 31.
Motell duly saluted, clearly relishing the bigger expanses of the main circuit for an easy victory and while the early odds of $9 won't be available this time around, as a galloper that gets stronger deeper into a campaign, there's no reason he can't go on with it here.
It's a slight rise in grade, but he looks the one still on the up and dropping 1kg along with getting over what looks a more suitable trip of 1800m now, the son of Uncle Mo retains the services of Jason "Stubby" Holder who'll drop him out and launch late.

Morphettville Value Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Angaston
Given all four of his victories have come over 1400m, there's a clear track record to suggest this gelding will improve off whatever he does on Saturday, however, the first-up return was eye-catching and over a testing six furlongs, he'll be strong late again.
As the only runner to make an impression from off the speed in that return effort on July 31, Angaston made our Blackbook file along with Noname Lane, the race favourite, an improving galloper that is the one to beat, but is another that'll likely get over further.
The last two second-up performances from this five-year-old have been a little better than what they read on paper and he did improve last time in, while with the 3kg claim here, I could entertain a little each-way ticket at the double figure quote.
Furphy Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 9 Turfitt
Turffontein is one of the more underrated sires in the country, a stallion that continually produces good and honest runners, while this galloper from the Gordon Richards stable is no exception, a four-year-old that hasn't run a bad race from eight starts.
A $3,000 weanling purchase was Turfitt, a mare that recorded her Maiden victory three starts back and didn't have any favours in two subsequent efforts when firstly unsuited by a rails Gawler bias, prior to a third on July 17 when caught three-wide the trip.
Holding her form with a second over this journey last start when making good ground late, she drops 1.5kg for a race that's no harder, while as one of the few consistent and hard fit runners in the line up, she does look very well placed on Saturday.
Sandra (Sammy) Elliott Champagne Lover Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Morphettville Value Bet - Race 9 No. 1 Kong
At only start three, this four-year-old was resuming behind a genuine Group class sprinter in Beau Rossa over the 1050m in the Listed Lightning Stakes, which certainly wasn't a winning set up, but he still got home okay behind that dominant winner.
Beau Rossa is currently a short second market elect behind Behemoth at WFA level in the Spring Stakes, so it's fair to say Kong should find this BM60 much easier, albeit I do have him pegged as a galloper that will get over more ground and gate one is some concern.
With those queries, he's nearly an each-way price in the last from Morphettville, but interestingly he's had a good tick-over trial since that run, a strange move if there was no intent here and it may simply be a case of getting $5+ for the best horse in the race.
