Adelaide Galvanising Handicap Tips (Race 2)
Morphettville Value Bet - Race 2 No. 8 Motell
This progressive gelding produced a good first-up performance, and after an excellent second-up outing, he again found the line strongly on July 17 via the Parks circuit when stepping 1550m. while with his racing style, he'll be much better suited by the bigger expanses of the main track now.
Motell finished second to subsequent Group Three winner Lord Vladivostock before being tipped out and both wins last time in did come very deep into that preparation, so he does have the perfect platform now and given he likes to build momentum, the wide gate in this smaller field is a positive.
This four-year-old is one of two runners in this field that found our Blackbook file last start, the other being Frankie Pinot who is probably the one they need to beat, but at a much better price and now seemingly close to peaking, this gelding gets the value selection nod on Saturday.
The Junction Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Morphettville Roughie - Race 3 No. 7 Yuri Royale
Given his Maiden win came over 1550m at start two back in February, this lightly raced three-year-old was expected to need the run fresh in a 100k feature over 1200m at Murray Bridge where he rattled home from the rear to grab third on July 3.
They thought enough of Yuri Royale to compete at Listed level at start three prior to a spell, and he's clearly got ability with a big price available for this 1500m assignment due to the fact he's still an unknown on heavy track, but I didn't think his last start was as bad as it looked.
Margins can open up on the Parks circuit especially when on-speed runners kick clear off a good run, so he realistically couldn't have finished much closer off a slowly run 1300m, although here over a more suitable trip, he can run a race at a big price with more of a rolling tempo predicted.
Accolade Wines Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Morphettville Best Bet - Race 6 No. 3 Denero
This gelding is still very lightly raced as a rising seven-year-old with just 20 starts to his name, and crossing the border for Pakenham trainer Michael Huglin after three solid efforts this winter, he's very well placed coming well down in grade this Saturday.
Following a good blowout over Flemington 1400m on June 5, Denero was hard to miss when storming home late behind a handy Chief Altony at Sandown and via his latest outing, was solid again when beaten four lengths into fifth, but he found the line well in what was a strong Open Handicap.
He would've finished a little closer if not kept in a pocket at a key stage by the eventual winner, while with two wins and a close second from three attempts on heavy ground, is ticking nearly box for this event barring a win at 1800m, albeit off that latest effort, that also looks a positive.
Blight’s Electrical Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Morphettville Next Best Bewt - Race 9 No. 8 Halcyon Dame
Another Victorian that's well placed in the wet at Adelaide this Saturday is Halcyon Dame from the Archie Alexander stable, who have prepared 39 winners so far in 2021 at a very good strike rate of 18%, and that includes a fresh victory on May 30 with this mare.
The daughter of Magnus couldn't have been more impressive in that Ballarat performance, storming home after settling back from a wide draw and despite suffering some inconvenience at Sandown following that, she was a little plain and that is common for her second-up.
Blinkers now go on the five-year-old who with three wins and three placings from eight attempts on heavy ground, will relish a testing surface late on this Morphettville program and off those recent runs at BM70 level in Victoria, this certainly isn't any harder.
