Fleurieu Milk Company Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Morphettville Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Jaguary
Although he was aided and flattered by a manic tempo which helped him win on May 29, this gelding did record his first second-up victory there and five weeks between runs going into that, is certainly open to improvement.
Prepared by astute trainer Travis Doudle who has a 20% winning strike rate this year, Jaguary was a galloper that quickly worked his way through the grades early in his career before contesting handy races and although competitive, just couldn't win.
With a confidence boosting victory under the belt, he's suited stepping up trip and drawing for a soft run throughout, finds a race that's no harder to that latest effort and carries the same 58.5kg impost with the smart Jamie Opperman claim.
Weslo Security Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Morphettville Value Bet - Race 4 No. 3 Lady Bethany
This mare had no luck when resuming, kept in a pocket at key stages in the run home and was still switching off heels at the 100m before launching late in a big effort in that Murray Bridge performance.
Lady Bethany was favourite last week as a result of that effort and running as our Best Bet on the June 5 program, was set an enormous task where simply, she just had too much to do despite rattling home from an impossible position to grab fourth.
While there's admittedly more doubts this time around given the wide barrier, the smaller field may well be a blessing and back against her own sex on the seven-day back-up, is each-way odds in a race that is lacking quality.
Chalk Hill Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 9 Magic Phantom
This gelding is holding his form and following a midweek victory second-up at Balaklava, arguably should've gone back-to-back on May 29 over the 1000m on the Parks circuit, a track and trip he remains at this Saturday.
Held-up for most of run home and then forced back to the inside where he's finally got clear, Magic Phantom was charging home into third behind the progressive Rock Of Kryptonite who had the saloon passage through in the run home.
I felt that he may have been looking for a shade further, however, down in the weights for what is only a slight rise in grade, he faces many rivals that look unsuited at 1000m whereas this gelding is the fit and in-form sprinter in the field.
The Junction Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Morphettville Roughie - Race 7 No. 7 Written In History
A lightly raced five-year-old who is set for just career start number six in Saturday, Written In History was cricket score odds when resuming at Murray Bridge, but against the pattern, he produced one of best runs of that May 22 contest.
Murray Bridge is somewhat of a unique circuit, especially for sprinters as if they go too slow, (which they did) it's a big and spacious track where the off-speed runners can build momentum early then bank on a turn-of-foot and that's exactly what happened.
Despite being three-wide, this gelding was easily the pick of the on-speed brigade when sticking on fourth and they were clearing from the rest of the field, while second-up from gate two, he can get the suck run in what should be a faster run race.
