He's bringing the right form for what's an average staying affair, with Lodbrok heavily backed in a decent BM70 on February 8 and he should've finished much closer there (held-up in the straight).

There was once again money for the five-year-old ahead of a Sandown BM74 on February 26, where he was honest in third and the gelding beat home Speak (won on Wednesday).

With two runs under the belt following a decent freshen-up, Lodbrok has the platform to be peaking on Friday and he was luckless in fourth via his last Moonee Valley appearance.

Moonee Valley Best Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Howlin' Rain

Carrying 62kg over 2040m doesn't appear an easy task, however, he lumped 61.5kg to victory last start and Howlin' Rain was effectively first-up via that February 21 event.

The son of Fiorente completed a fourth-straight win via her recent 1600m assignment, while he bolted in when bringing up the hat-trick over this track/trip on December 28.

The Caulfield Heath form from November has stacked up through Kings Valley, who has won three of his next five (including a BM88 last week) and at the price, Howlin' Rain can be supported each-way.

The former Peter Snowden galloper impressed on stable debut for Daniel Bowman, with Moonraker sitting on strong tempo before opening up a 4.25-length margin at Ararat.

It's always a positive when they're out fast but can still come home quickly and the three-year-old landed good bets in that February 16 triumph, where he was resuming as a gelding.

This is tougher ask now contesting a metro BM64 that has depth, but Moonraker can roll along on the speed once again and he's a youngster who is still on an upwards spiral.

The Valley Summer Sprint Series Final Tips (Race 8)

Moonee Valley Roughie - Race 8 No. 1 Maximillius

His fresh effort at huge odds was terrific, with Maximillius recording the fastest last 200m of the February 7 meeting, but we needed to see it again given his failures over last season.

The five-year-old has backed it up with a second-place finish via a record-breaking 955m dash and now over six furlongs for Friday's third-up attempt, he can settle closer this time.

He has a Moonee Valley 1200m win over Recommendation, a handy galloper who has subsequently won four stakes races and both of Maximillius' victories have come over this distance.
