Respect the first-up placement here from the Cliff Brown yard, as there's plenty of maiden options around for La Fille Rouge, who resumes in a 955m dash at BM64 level.

There's always been an opinion of the three-year-old, who gave a good account of herself on the speed via her debut last August before pulling up with a slow recovery at Moe.

La Fille Rouge arrives off three jump-outs and the best of those was the latest on February 21, while Celine Gaudray takes the fresh engagement, a 1.5kg claimer who rides The Valley well.

Although she showed glimpses in two starts last year, Sea What I See needed more time to furnish and the Danny O'Brien-trained mare now looks ready to work through the grades.

The four-year-old landed good bets when recording an impressive return win at Bendigo on February 11, where she bolted in under Blake Shinn and he stays aboard second-up.

Sea What I See hardly beat up on walkers in a maiden which stacked up superbly for that Bendigo meeting, with her event rating far superior to the 1300m BM64 later on that card.

While he had to wait until third-up in his last campaign to breakthrough, there was strong form throughout that long second prep, with city references through most performances.

Mansiere was simply looking for the paddock when putting in a plain one before a spell, however, Mornington Glory, Give Giggles and Scuderia have come from that Class 1.

His recent return at Sale was excellent, where after being shuffled back and held-up at key stages, he rattled home for second and ran the fastest last 200m of the card in the process.

He's a while between drinks now, however, Frankie Pinot rarely puts in a bad run and he was competitive throughout 2023 in similar company to what he resumes in tonight.

That includes a first-up return in this same event 12 months ago, where the gelding got back to a hopeless position early from a wide draw before making inroads when it was all over.

The seven-year-old has decent fresh stats and while Madison Lloyd will need to ride for luck from gate one, she can at least try and punch up a little early rather than flop out the back.
