Launceston Favourite - Race 2 No. 8 Wickham Light
The three-year-old showed ability when beaten half-a-length in an 800m contest at Longford last month in his sole barrier trial.
That effort stood the gelding in good stead for his debut effort, which saw him jump as favourite prior to losing out narrowly at this venue ten days later.
That debut contest was staged over 1100m, with Wickham Light taking the eye in staying on to place second in a nine-runner field.
The form of that contest, which was run on a Good 4 track, is working out well with the third and fourth both registering victories at this venue this month.
Glenn Stevenson’s representative has an inside barrier here and with improvement expected, he looks up to breaking his maiden at the second attempt.
Salters Hire 0-62 Rating Tips (Race 4)
Launceston Value Bet - Race 4 No. 4 Forest Diamond
The daughter of Redwood showed completed a hat-trick when winning on a Heavy 9 track at Echuca in June 2022.
While unable to score since, the mare did register some creditable efforts subsequently, including at metro level when third at Sandown Hillside in January last year.
Her first start for the Blacker stable saw her beaten nearly five lengths when last of six in a 1400m Benchmark 72 handicap here last month.
Forest Diamond took a step forward when beaten less than two-and-a-half-lengths when jumping at $20 over this track/trip subsequently.
The mare caught the eye having raced from off the pace that day, with the only runner to emerge from that race, fourth home Lord Whitegate winning here last week.
Steves Liquor Benchmark 68 Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Launceston Best Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Seydoux
The five-year-old has been in good form this prep, including when winning twice from four starts at this venue.
The first of those wins saw the mare get home by half-a-length when contesting a Benchmark 64 handicap over 1200m at the end of February.
The mare duly followed up when winning by nearly a length over the same course and distance at this level the following month.
While Adam Trinder’s representative lost out narrowly when beaten by a stablemate here three weeks ago, the return to Benchmark 68 level is in her favour here.
She will jump from widest of all here, but she looks capable of getting across to make all the running to take her record here to three wins from five starts.

Launceston Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 2 Zulu Angel
Trainer Gary White has his horses in good form at present with a 33% strike-rate (4/12) since March 29 and The handler’s representative here registered a narrow victory in February.
That race has produced two subsequent winners, including Geegees Hisword, sixth that day who re-opposes in this event.
While the four-year-old has finished outside the first three in both subsequent starts, it’s of note that one came in a competitive 1400m event here earlier this month.
Prior to that effort, Zulu Angel had finished fifth in a 1600m contest here that has seen the winner and third both deliver subsequent victories.
The son of Zululand has shaped as if worth a try at this distance in the past, including when keeping on nicely in the previously mentioned course success.
