Best Bet:
Race 7 No. 9 Galpin
She was building nicely ahead of a Kyneton breakthrough win on February 27 and Galpin was then heavily supported for a 0-62 when crossing the border to Adelaide.
While she couldn't land those bets at Morphettville, it was still a strong chase from off the speed in an otherwise on-speed dominated affair (third-fastest last 200m of the meeting).
That form reads well for a country BM58, as Galpin comfortably beat Williamstown (subsequent BM64 winner) and Beautiful Jewel was runner-up in a Listed race at her next start.
Although she's untried at this longer journey, recent efforts indicate that the four-year-old should run it out and winkers have been applied ahead of Thursday's assignment.
Value Bet:
Race 5 No. 5 Cherokee Brave
Although he's likely to prosper over more ground as the campaign wears on, this Danny O'Brien-trained galloper has been competitive in most first-up attempts to date.
His last prep fell away, but the resumption was easily the pick of his spring efforts, where Cherokee Brave made ground for third in this grade and he carries 2kg less from that run.
Both March jump-outs over 800m have been sound, which includes a solid hit-out for second via his latest Flemington workout and that heat was taken out by a useful 1000m sprinter.
With blinkers on Professor Pickles and other speed influences in Lovin' Laughs, Paint Me Red and Snappy Pierro included in the field, this could set-up late for a closing Cherokee Brave.
Market Mover:
Race 4 No. 12 Charm Noir
This son of Ocean Park was tipped out after a seventh-place finish at Sale in September and he returns as a gelding for his second campaign.
Char Noir has completed two jump-outs in March and with PuntZone, he's been well-backed early ($5.50-$3.30).
Stats Say:
With 161 winners so far this season, the Ben, Will & JD Hayes stable are leading the Victorian Trainers Premiership and they're currently 16 clear of Ciaron Maher in second.
The brothers have accepted with three runners on Thursday's Kyneton program.
