He's a well bred colt, being by So You Think and out of a half-sister to Extreme Choice (dual Group 1 winner) and his lead-up work ahead of this debut tilt has been sharp.

Sir Woodpecker was given time after completing a pair of jump-outs late last year and after a narrow jump-out win on September 12, he bolted in with a 1000m Ararat trial.

He put an eight-length margin on Golden Mikki (three seconds from four starts) in that last workout and drawing to find the rails up on the speed at Kyneton is often favourable.

She appears somewhat the obvious first-up in a BM64 vs her own sex going off her prior form lines, although a 4kg claimer going aboard is a query in what looks a busy affair.

The daughter of Zoustar saluted on debut over a shorter trip, where she beat a subsequent stakes winner (Austmarr) and she defeated a city winner in Mantua via her last victory.

The metro form lines either side of that April 4 success read superbly for this grade and Herecomesthestar has completed two sharp jump-outs ahead of this return.

He's not one of mine, but I can say the same for all runners in the 2024 Kyneton Cup, as they're mostly hard to catch and the handicap conditions have made it tougher.

With early speed drawn to his outside, but with the ability to hold-up and potentially get a suck run throughout from barrier two, this does set-up okay for Mankayan.

Third-up last prep he was runner-up in a 2000m race that included Dunkel, Gear Up and Ashrun, and anything resembling that effort would have him right in the mix here.

This lightly raced five-year-old is honest and after keeping his perfect fresh record intact when resuming at Sale, his second-up run on Geelong Cup Day was better than it reads.

Great Gust was given no peace on the speed throughout that 1300m contest and with that rival having dropped out to finish a clear last, there was some merit to the performance.

This 1400m BM70 appears a little easier than his last assignment and with Great Gust drawing gate two, he maps to settle in the first few pairs without doing any work.
