Best Bet:
Race 3 No. 3 Judge Jenni
The daughter of Justify has registered some good efforts over shorter distances in the past including when fourth over 1200m at Moonee Valley first up this prep.
The four-year-old was beaten just over two-and-a-half-lengths when racing on a good 4 surface on that occasion.
The pick went on to record her best finishing position to date when two-and-a-lengths second in a maiden held over 1454m at Kyneton at the start of this month.
The filly was returning from a let up when again racing on a good 4 track on that occasion and softer conditions should have prove no issue having finished close up at Sandown on a soft 5 in March last year.
An inside barrier is a positive for Fred Kersley's mount and with the extra distance expected to suit she is taken to break through for her first win.
Next Best:
Race 2 No. 5 Sunny Times
The five-year-old is a proven stayer having placed over further in the past when third in a couple of maiden races on Pakenham’s synthetic track in August.
While the gelding finished held in his first two starts this prep the application of blinkers for the first time since March last year saw him break through for his first win last time.
That victory saw the pick finish two lengths clear of his rivals when contesting a 1600m maiden held on a good 4 surface at Moe just over two weeks ago.
Reece Goodwin’s representative was ridden cold having jumped from a wide barrier on that occasion and he shaped as if a step back up in distance would suit having finished strongly that day.
The softer going expected here is no issue and in a race that lacks real depth he looks up to registering back-to-back wins.
Market Mover:
Race 7 No. 1 Immortal Shield
Top weight Immortal Shield has made just one start on turf, howeve, punters have latched onto him in the penultimate race on the card, with the three-year-old now priced at $4.40 with PlayUp
The gelding returns from a spell here, having raced from the front prior to fading late on when fourth over 1300m in a Class 1 handicap at Cranbourne in September.
Stats Say:
The Mick Price & Michael Kent stable can boast a 38.5% strike-rate (5/13) with their runners here this season.
The pair send out two runners here with Fitzroy Street (Jett Stanley) bidding to break her maiden in the fifth race of the day following a last of six at Sandown on debut last August.
In the following race Beau Mertens’ mount Sweet Jasmine holds obvious claims from barrier two following two solid fifth place finishes including in a 1500m Restricted 64 handicap at Mornington last time.
