Pacific Plan Management Maiden Plate Tips (Race 1)
Kembla Grange Best Bet - Race 1 No. 1 Able Yellow
A very well-bred galloper, being by Justify and out of Srikandi (two-time Group 1 winner), Able Yellow worked well in two January trials ahead of his debut assignment at Hawkesbury.
There was plenty of merit the third-place finish over 1100m, where the gelding found himself in an early battle and he was the pick on-speed brigade in a race tailormade for the quinella.
That form received a boost with Veravino bolting in last Saturday and after just getting warm late for second at Goulburn last start, Able Yellow looks ready to eat up seven furlongs on Friday.
Astute Thirroul Maiden Plate Tips (Race 4)
Kembla Grange Roughie - Race 4 No. 6 Uncle Barry
There's more depth to this maiden than what he contested on Australian debut, but there's still improvement to come with Uncle Barry and he gave a good sight in that Wyong tilt.
The first two home in that February 27 event both came from off the speed, whereas Uncle Barry was softened up a little too early after leading and his condition gave out late in the piece.
He caught the eye in his last NZ outing before crossing the ditch and leading into his recent return, the son of Tivaci moved well in a trial when second to Indecisive (first-up winner).
Carlton Dry 3.5 Kembla Grange Classic Tips (Race 7)
Kembla Grange Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Good Sort
The Chris Waller-trained filly had completed three starts in winter, which included a brave second-up breakthrough when covering ground before a runner-up finish behind Wanaruah.
Wanaruah was then Group placed behind Autumn Glow and Angel Capital via his next two starts and for what looks a black-type target, Good Sort carries 5kg less from her return.
A tick-over trial will have helped knock some freshness out of Good Sort, who was too keen first-up on February 19, but it was still a pass mark and the form around that race has stood up.
Dean Group BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Kembla Grange Value Bet - Race 8 No. 16 Graceful Artist
She was tested in strong company after her debut win last May and Graceful Artist rounded her first prep with a second to Swiftfalcon, which is superb reading for a provincial BM64.
The three-year-old didn't progress last campaign, however, there were excuses for her defeat prior to a spell, as the jockey lost an iron for a period and she also didn't relish a Heavy 10.
Graceful Artist is ticking over well this time in, with a good chasing effort fresh when unsuited in a race that's produced two subsequent winners and she was only a stride off saluting second-up.
