Schweppes Benchmark 68 Handicap Tips (Race 1)
Ipswich Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 4 Kairos Louie
Christopher Zintilis’ representative has demonstrated a liking for wet surfaces in the past including when winning on a soft 7 at Grafton in October.
The four-year-old came home just under half-a-length clear of his eight rivals when contesting a 2220m Class 1 set weights event that day.
A good third over 2050m when competing at metro level in a Benchmark 65 handicap held in in similar conditions followed with the gelding given a break following that effort.
The son of Time Test has registered decent efforts in defeat in finishing fourth in both starts so far in 2025 including over 1690m here last month.
The selection raced at Benchmark 68 handicap level when beaten less than a length that day stepping up to 2200m when beaten just over four lengths at Doomben last time.
The gelding tackles an easier contest here and with the distance and going to suit he looks up to saluting under Bailey Wheeler.
Gordon’s Gin Benchmark 85 Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Ipswich Best Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Liquor
The five-year-old has shown a liking for wet tracks in the past including when winning twice on such surfaces in 2024.
The first of those triumphs saw the mare get home by over a length when competing in a 1110m Benchmark 78 handicap held on a soft 6 track at Doomben in July.
The pick went on to complete a double when saluting by a narrow margin dropped to 1000m for a Sunshine Coast handicap that took place on a soft 7 surface the following month.
Tony Gollan’s mare competed at Class 6 level at Sunshine Coast and can be forgiven a below par subsequent effort on a good 4 surface at Eagle Farm in September.
The daughter of Spirit Of Boom delivered a solid fourth in a barrier trial over 1000m at Doomben just under a month ago and is expected to have improved for that effort.
Angela Jones has been on board for five of the selection’s seven previous wins and the pair can notch up another win together.
Lemsecco Plate Class 4 Plate Tips (Race 5)
Ipswich Favourite - Race 5 No. 4 Action King
The son of Harry Angel arrives here in great form having delivered victories in two of his three starts this prep.
Those two wins include a first-up success when coming home nearly one-and-a-half-lengths clear of his rivals in a 1000m Benchmark 62 handicap at Sunshine Coast in December.
The pick lost little in defeat when placing second in a Benchmark 65 handicap held over this course and distance just under two weeks later.
Both of those efforts came on a sound surface with the gelding returning to winning ways in taking out a Benchmark 68 handicap held on a soft 6 track at Gold Coast last month.
The selection raced over 1000m at Gold Coast overcoming an awkward start to deliver a length victory in a ten-runner contest.
Kelly Schweida’s representative has a good barrier here and with Cody Collis’ two-kilogram claim the pick looks capable of recording his fourth win in nine career starts.
Seven Class 1 Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Ipswich Value Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Pele Princess
The four-year-old recorded some good efforts in maiden company last prep and while unable to break her maiden she did finish in the first four in six of her eight starts.
Those starts included three efforts at this venue with the best of those a length third in a 1690m maiden held on a heavy 9 track in April.
The selection is equally at home on quicker going as demonstrated when fourth on a soft 6 here the following month while her final three starts last time around all came on good 4 going.
Brett Baker’s representative followed up a trial fourth at Toowoomba last month with a highly impressive victory when jumping at $17 for a 1350m event here earlier this month.
The pick finished strongly having been ridden from off the pace on a soft 6 surface on that occasion and with Vlad Duric again set to ride she looks value stepping back up in distance.
