Trevor Lambourn’s gelding demonstrated that he handles heavy conditions when third over 1920m in a Toowoomba maiden in April.
The five-year-old broke through for his first victory when saluting by a length dropped to 1500m for a Kilcoy maiden held on a soft 6 track next time.
While the pick managed just one top three finish from four subsequent starts that prep he resumed with a good third over this track and trip at the start of last month.
The gelding was beaten just over two-and-a-half-lengths having jumped at $31 for a Benchmark 58 handicap held on a good 4 surface on that occasion.
The return to this distance shouldn’t be an issue with the selection beaten just under four lengths when seventh stepped up to 1500m at Warwick subsequently.
The son of Caravaggio boasts an inside barrier here and may prove up to surprising some better fancied rivals.

Ipswich Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 11 Star Act
The four-year-old registered two third-place finishes from four starts when in the care of Bjorn Baker earlier this prep.
All four of those efforts came in New South Wales including when beaten just over three lengths in finishing third in a Benchmark 72 handicap at Randwick Kensington at the end of October.
The pick raced over 1400m on that occasion and followed that effort up with a four-length fifth in a 1500m Benchmark 72 handicap at Rosehill three weeks ago.
The filly has joined the Liam Birchley stable since that effort and she shouldn’t have too many issues dropping back in distance.
While all four of the selection’s efforts this prep have come on a good 4 surface she has shown a liking for wet tracks in the past including when saluting on a heavy 10 at Warwick Farm in May.
Jace McMurray claims two-kilogram’s here and jumping from barrier seven his mount looks up to returning to winning ways.
Gordon’s Gin Benchmark 65 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Ipswich Best Bet - Race 5 No. 8 Diamond Lass
The mare demonstrated good form last season including when winning on both the polytrack at Gold Coast and on turf.
The polytrack success saw the six-year-old come home over three lengths clear of her rivals when contesting a 1050m Restricted 55 handicap when racing first up.
That success came at the start of last season with the mare returning from a spell to come home over five lengths clear of her rivals in a Restricted 58 handicap at Warwick in May.
The selection raced over 800m on a good 3 track in that Warwick contest however it’s notable that she has performed well on a heavy track in the past.
The mare has joined the Darren Bell stable since that Warwick victory and she prepped for his with a fifth in a barrier trial at Doomben last month.
That barrier trial effort is expected to have put her spot on for this contest and wearing cheekers for the first time and jumping from next to the rail she is the pick to resume with a win.
Great Northern Class 2 Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Ipswich Value Bet - Race 6 No. 7 Sujeed
The three-year-old demonstrated ability when debuting with a fourth of seven over 1110m at Doomben in February.
The selection was beaten just over two-and-a-half-lengths when racing on a soft 6 that day and he was spelled by connections subsequently.
The son of Sooboog was switched to the polytrack at Gold Coast for his next start breaking his maiden at the second attempt when taking out a 1050m maiden event in June.
The pick duly followed up when successful by half-a-length in a 1200m handicap at this circuit the following month.
Adam Campton’s gelding won on a soft 5 track at Ipswich however he is not expected to have any issues with the heavy 8 track expected for this event.
The youngster registered a fair fourth place finish when contesting an 850m barrier trial at Gold Coast a month ago and he looks value to resume with a win having missed a race at Doomben recently to head here.
