Race 4 No. 6 Slayrider
Paul Preusker’s representative failed to make an impact in his first two starts including when jumping at triple-figure odds for a Werribee maiden last month.
The four-year-old finished down the field over 1400m that day but has shown improvement since stepped up in distance.
The selection recorded his first placed effort when two lengths second in an eight-runner 1650m maiden held on a good 4 track at Nhill at the end of last month.
While unable to win when racing at Penola recently the four-year-old recorded a solid effort in keeping on well for third, beaten less than a length over 1600m.
The gelding is unlikely to have any issues racing on a wet track for the first time with a soft 5 surface expected here.
An inside barrier is a positive here and with Dean Yendall back in the saddle he looks capable of breaking his maiden at the fifth attempt.
Next Best:
Race 7 No. 1 Tequila Storm
The seven-year-old showed good form in 2024 including when placing third in metro company at Moonee Valley last February.
The mare returned from a spell with a two-and-a-half-length victory in a 1000m Benchmark 64 at Warrnambool in November.
A good three-and-a-half-length fourth in a six-runner Benchmark 70 handicap on the Heath track at Caulfield followed with the winner that day going on to score in Listed company subsequently.
The pick appreciated the drop to Benchmark 58 level racing when a length second in an 1100m handicap held on a good 4 surface at Hamilton earlier this month.
Trainer Adam Chambers has his string in good form at present with all bar one of his last eight runners finishing in the first three.
The daughter of Atomic boasts a good barrier five from the rail here and with Tom Madden retaining the ride she is taken to return to defy top weight to return to winning ways.
Market Mover:
Race 8 No. 9 Olivia’s Scandal
The five-year-old arrives here in good form as the winner of two of her last three starts including over this distance at Echuca at the end of last month.
Austy Coffey’s mare contested a Benchmark 58 handicap held on a good 3 track that day and she tackles slightly softer going here.
$8 were available when markets opened and she is now $6.50 with Ladbrokes
Stats Say:
Trainer Tom Dabernig does well at this venue with the handler boasting a near 37% strike-rate (11/30) with his runners here.
The handler is set to saddle three runners on the card including My Angel Shell (Jarrod Fry) in the opening maiden and Lady Prancealot (Linda Meech) in the third.
Jockey Jordyn Weatherly does particularly well for the stable with a 31.5% strike-rate (34/108) and she is set to partner their third runner, Masked Marauder who goes in the sixth.
