Kelvin Hamilton’s representative has been freshened since that effort and should have no issues with the softer going expected having won on a soft 5 surface here in the past.

Apprentice Lauryn Bingley gets on well with the pick and jumping from an inside barrier the pair look capable of returning to winning ways.

Trainer Jessie Bazan’s representative has demonstrated good form this season winning three of her four starts.

The pick’s sole defeat saw her beaten just over two-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a 1200m Class 1 handicap held on a good 4 track at Launceston in December.

The daughter of D’Argento has appreciated the extra distance she has tackled in her two most recent starts winning over 1400m before following up over 1600m.

The youngster came home half-a-length clear of her eight rivals in the Thousand Guineas at this venue in the second of those wins.

The selection was ridden cold that day finishing strongly in the style of a filly who will appreciate the extra 500m she is set to tackle here.

Bulent Muhcu’s mount holds a number of these on that form including third home Go Jeanie, fifth Snow Eagle and sixth Baybougg who has won since.

The wet track forecast here is a positive and the pick is taken to successfully concede weight to her rivals.

The five-year-old recorded some solid efforts in Melbourne earlier this prep including when placing twice at Moonee Valley.

The first of those placed efforts saw the gelding beaten one-and-a-half-lengths when runner-up in the Group 3 JRA Cup over the Cox Plate track and trip in October.

The gelding went on to lose out by a narrow margin when contesting a Benchmark 100 handicap over the same course and distance prior to contesting last month’s Summer Cup here.

Ciaron Maher’s representative delivered a comfortable victory by nearly two lengths when racing over 2200m and he gets similar underfoot conditions, a soft 5 here.

Shane Foley’s mount had a number of his rivals here behind him that day including stablemate Strawberry Rock (second), Kaliuwaa Falls (third) and Alhambra Lad (fourth).

The extra distance here is no issue with the pick’s previous efforts over 2400m and further including a runner-up finish in the Group 1 2500m South Australian Derby in 2023 and he is taken to complete a double.

The daughter of Tough Speed has placed in the top three in two of her three first-up starts with the exception coming when sixth here in June last year.

The selection met with interference at the start prior to fading in the closing stages when finishing sixth in a Class 2 handicap over this track and trip on that occasion.

The four-year-old raced on a soft 5 track that day and again encountered wet conditions when runner-up on a soft 6 over 1200m here on her only subsequent starts.

The filly jumped from a wide barrier prior to going down by just under half-a-length in a similar race to this on that occasion with a number of those behind her that day winning since.

Erica Byrne Burke, on board for both of those efforts is again set to ride and her mount looks value of getting out to make all the running here.
