Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Sky Jewellery

With a wider barrier this evening, a late betting drift wouldn't shock with Sky Jewellery, although the John Size-trained galloper still looks the most progressive horse in this field.

He's by The Autumn Sun and out of Rollout The Carpet, with his a dam a Group 1 winning miler in New Zealand and he'll get over further than sprint distances based on his breeding.

Sky Jewellery was very professional on debut last month, where the gelding was held-up before taking a tight gap passing the 200m and Hugh Bowman looked after him once that race was won.

The three-year-old moved well in a tick-over trial on January 24 and along with bringing what is comfortably the best last start figure in this entire line-up, there's also room to improve at start two.

With a few more favours two starts back, the gelding would've saluted via a similar affair to this and he then had excuses last time out when contesting the Group 3 January Cup.

Moments In Time failed to settle in that most recent appearance over this track/trip, where he didn't relish a slow early tempo and the five-year-old was sent on an early move as a result.

He stuck to the task well considering, with Moments In Time only beaten 1.25-lengths in the finish and in the process, he was comfortably the pick of the on-speed brigade (first four home were all swoopers).

This may work out fine despite drawing out, as the small field should allow Zac Purton to either cross and settle outside of Telecom Fighters early, or push on and take up the lead.

This son of Dundeel should continue to furnish with experience and despite racing very greenly, there was some merit to the Sha Tin debut performance over seven furlongs last month.

While Mission Strike has shown some potential in his trial work, his barrier manners weren't flash leading into that first outing and he brought that to race day when blundering at the start.

He's been sent back to the trials since the debut, with two 1600m heats completed in January and the gelding has been strong late in both of those hit-outs (launched late for third in the latest).

It's been a good season for Mark Newnham, who is currently sitting equal-fourth on the Hong Kong trainers premiership (26 wins) and Luke Ferraris has been aboard for 11 of those victories.

He was brave without luck when resuming, where Eason finished third-of-twelve via a similar affair to this and he was only beaten half a length there despite racing three-wide throughout.

The Ricky Yiu-trained galloper followed the strong fresh effort up with a runner-up finish behind Gustosisimo (second fav here) and he was only a stride off saluting in that November 20 contest.

Although Eason failed last time out at Sha Tin, there were clear excuses for that December 22 flop, as the post-race examination revealed a substantial amount of blood in his trachea.

He's often produced on the fresh side (completed a very quiet trial on January 24) and the six-year-old is suited by the return to Happy Valley, with his last four wins coming over this track/trip.
