The Sauternes Cup Tips (Race 5)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 5 No. 4 Glory Cloud
Despite a pass mark on debut in January, along with a slick tick-over trial, Glory Cloud was sent out as a $20 chance at start two, where the gelding was a big eye-catcher late.
The four-year-old was back and wide in that Happy Valley outing on February 21, and behind an all-the-way winner who saluted well, he was easily the pick of the off-speed brigade.
Nothing went right following that when covering ground but the four-year-old has bounced via his last two appearances, which included a second over this track/trip last start.
An in-form Our Lucky Glory cashed in off a gun run in transit via that April 24 event, albeit it was another nice chasing effort from Glory Cloud, who finds a weak Class 4 here.
Rhine Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 6 No. 6 Sight Happy
There's a lack of depth to this Class 4, with only three of the raced brigade posting respectable last start figures and all of those gallopers have queries this evening (map, weight etc).
That opens up the door for Sight Happy, a David Hayes-trained debutant who is well bred and the three-year-old has shown ability via his lead-up trials ahead of this first start.
The last of those was a trial win over this track/trip on April 19, where the gelding was held together throughout that hit-out whereas his rivals were pushed out to chase.
Sight Happy opened the prep with a second in an 800m heat on March 21, which was taken by impressive debut winner Bottomuptogether and he wasn't knocked about there.
Ciron Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Happy Valley Roughie - Race 7 No. 8 Family Fortune
He needs to lift on the figures that have been produced, however, Family Fortune is one of the few horses in this field with genuine upside and he looks suited up to 1650m now.
The Caspar Fownes-trained galloper hasn't disgraced himself in any of his three runs to day, albeit he hasn't threatened and that included an eighth-of-fourteen finish last time.
Family Fortune was shuffled back in a leader dominated race via that third outing and he did make some late inroads prior to that after being ridden cold from a wide barrier.
This is the weakest race that he's seen in Hong Kong and down in the weights further courtesy of a 2.5kg claim from Alfred Chan, there's scope to improve over a longer trip.
Garonne Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Happy Valley Favourite - Race 8 No. 2 Double Bingo
Despite being sent out at bolters odds via his Hong Kong debut run, Double Bingo was hard to miss in that April 10 performance, with the gelding rattling home late for second.
Time-wise, that 1200m rated well for Class 4 standards and while he then disappointed when well in the market at start two, there were excuses for that last start failure.
The four-year-old managed to find a position an ideal midfield stalking position, however, he wasn't comfortable letting down on what was a good to yielding surface there.
Double Bingo is still learning the caper and he'll take plenty from that May 1 outing, while off his debut ratings, the gelding is the one to beat if we forgive the latest effort.
Seine Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 2 Copartner Prance
Although he receives a decent penalty, going from Class 4 to Class 3 level is never straight forward for a lightly raced type and Copartner Prance handled the rise with ease on May 1.
The Francis Lui-trained galloper put in his most professional performance to date via that last start victory, with the gelding prone to laying in via previous performances.
While it was at a lower level, the son of Epaulette did carry a bigger impost to success before stepping up to this company and he's seemingly improving with every outing.
When taking into account the queries surrounding his main threats in the market, this isn't a strong Class 3 and Copartner Prance will be winning better races down the track.
