We need to respect the strong market push via her October 22 debut outing over the 1125m at Grafton, where Gerry's Pick firmed late at a decent price ($12.00-$6.50).

A lack of race experience told in that tilt, where she raced keenly after settling into a midfield stalking role and the filly wasn't travelling well enough when the gaps first presented.

The three-year-old picked up late when the spaces started to close and while she wouldn't have won anyway, it was still a pass mark and there's natural improvement to come.

Grafton Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 5 Fools Play

Nothing went right in her sole winter appearance at Tamworth, where Fools Play was dragged too far back in a 1000m dash and she still got home fairly from a hopeless position.

She's been mostly consistent either side of that June 21 showing, which includes a hat-trick of placings in handy maidens via her second prep before breaking through at short odds.

A 1005m dash proved a too sharp via her most recent return, however, it was a nice run (fastest last 400m of the meeting) and the rise in trip second-up is a positive.

Grafton Best Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Khamis

This Kris Lees-trained filly beat a few subsequent winners when bolting over 1400m at Grafton on debut, where the three-year-old opened up a huge margin on a wet track.

A progressive middle-distance/staying type, Khamis had to settle for second as a short fav via her second appearance over 1630m and she was campaigning on a Good 3 surface.

I wouldn't be jumping off just yet, with her lead-up work suggesting that she'd continue to improve with racing and there's more give in Thursday's track (currently a Soft 7).

Grafton Value Bet - Race 8 No. 2 Mychyna

Now third-up after a solid last start performance at Lismore via an October 20 event that's already produced another two winners, Mychyna shouldn't be far away here.

The six-year-old has a decent third-up record and that includes a Ballina triumph over this distance last campaign, with that victory also brought up in stronger company.

Put a line through her October 1 fresh tilt at Grafton, where a race fall attributed to the big losing margin and from a middle draw over seven furlongs, she may get the lead.
