FEED 'N' WIN F&M CLASS 2 SHOWCASE HANDICAP Tips (Race 5)
Grafton Value Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Runsis
Barrier 11 is potentially a little sticky, however, she has tactical versatility and now third-up for the new stable, this mare can be very competitive here at a double figure quote, especially off her Victorian form.
A half-sister to Listed winning sprinter Runson, Runsis won her first two starts for the Corstens yard back in the spring of 2019 and although off the scene for 13 months that followed that, she was still mostly thereabouts at 64 level before venturing north.
While the daughter of Uncumbered was well held first-up, she got home okay when it was all over as she did last start in a Metropolitan BM80 and is well back in grade on Wednesday at Grafton, coming all the way down to a Country Class 2.
TURSA GRAFTON GUINEAS Tips (Race 6)
Grafton Best Bet - Race 6 No. 7 Tamilaide
Rather confident that the Grafton Guineas is a race in two and although Remus is well worth saving on or even just putting into the quaddie, this gelding is ready to peak and brings the best form lines for this three-year-old feature.
A dominant Maiden winner on debut in January, Tamilaide has been a short favourite in four subsequent attempts, bouncing back off a runner-up finish at Eagle Farm in February to record a dominant Class 2 victory in May at the Gold Coast and has run twice since then.
Behind Starosa (midfield at Group level at her next outing) second-up, the son of Adelaide was quite unlucky when cluttered up on the rails prior to his second behind Always On Show, a filly with some decent Sydney form including a third behind the handy Wicklow.
GRAFTON DISTRICT SERVICES CLUB RAMORNIE HANDICAP Tips (Race 7)
Grafton Feature Tip - Race 7 No. 9 Phobetor
In a typically competitive Ramornie field, I ideally want to look away from those that are either finding it hard to win or have had decent preparations coming into this, landing on the one in winning form and a galloper that does have improvement to come.
Fitting that description is the Michael Costa-trained Phobetor, a five-year-old that has been set for this feature and despite being a drifting favourite first-up off a long layoff, was impressive at Doomben, letting go late with a big turn-of-foot on June 16.
A winner over the Grafton Carnival on this day back in 2019, this gelding did threaten to be at least Stakes class that following campaign enroute to a Magic Million tilt and off that fresh performance along with excellent prior trials, he looks to have improved this prepration.
GRAFTON TAXIS - 66423622 BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP Tips (Race 8)
Grafton Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 13 Sailing
The winning strike rate is admittedly not the greatest, but as a very consistent mare who was desperately unlucky via her June 27 attempt at Grafton, she does look a nice each-way hope in the last which isn't a strong event.
Ben Thompson is aboard some strong chances over the Grafton Carnival which does include a dual engagement on Sailing, who has also accepted for Thursday, but from the better draw here in a race that's no harder, this does look the logical way to go.
After getting home well for third in an Eagle Farm Class 1 two starts back before being briefly held up on June 6, this four-year-old simply couldn't get clear via that most recent effort, stuck behind a wall of horses in the straight when the sprint went on.
